Researchers at the Ohio State University studied the health effects of safflower oil on obese postmenopausal women, with Type 2 diabetes and concluded that 1) safflower oil reduced abdominal fat and 2) increased lean muscle tissue. Their findings were published in American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
After taking controlled doses of safflower oil for 16 weeks, the women participants experienced an approximate 6.3% weight loss in the abdominal area. Additionally, their overall health improved, including better blood sugar levels.
