2.3 PERSONALITY AS FACTOR OF INDIVIDUAL TO BE INFLUENCED BY PEERS TOWARDS POLITICAL PARTICIPATION In the universty`s life, peer group is the most common scenery in the environment of campus in which every assignments and projects needed to be done in a group. According to Campos, Heap and de Leon (2013), people who are in the same group is commonly behave alike. In addition, political participation is an optional decision. However, the students may participate or not under the influence of their peer group is a question conformity or not for the group. Personality is one aspect in which an individual can be influenced by their peers. 2.3.1 PREVIOUS RESEARCH ABOUT PERSONALITY AND POLITICAL BEHAVIOUR Mondak and Halperin (2008) research on “A Framework for the Study of Personality and Political Behaviour” become the main reference of the subtopic. 2.3.1.1 PERSONALITY Personality is one aspect in political psychology that have the least research carried out ( Mondak & Halperin, 2008). Personality which is the study of human traits is one factor that can make an individual be influenced by their peers. Extroversion is a more gregarious, high-spirited and exciting. Contradictory with introversion which is prone to detachment, submissive and timid. Mondak and Halperin easily seen the relationship between political behaviour and extroversion. It is because extroversion is connected to leadership and conquer the group-based political participation. Furthermore, extrovert is always specified with communication and interactive skill and parallel to the political norms that needed socialization. There are many political participation of an extroversion personality can partake such as signing a petition, debating, and

Our society has transformed from the Culture of Character where it was important to be serious and disiplines to the Culture of Personality in which outgoing and energetic personalities are the most valued. This can essentially be perceived in a good way as well as a bad way. Although social skills and team work are extremely important in the working environment, it is critical that we allow more freedom to introverts. In order to create more effective and successful working environments, it is essential that companies have an equal combination extroverts as well as the underestimated
Personality research is usually not a straight linear process, going from hypothesis to final proof. Rather, there are often lots of backtracking and circling around as ideas are tested and refined. Still, there is a certain logical progression of inference that can be said to underlie the research process. When people think of leaders such as the president of the United States, Barack Obama, his special charismatic personality, in-depth study of such individuals, either implicitly or explicitly. In doing so researchers might examine these interviews, to see how he thought about himself and others. They would examine his documents, such as his speeches, writing, and educational work. They could collect judgments from those who knew him, both casually and in depth. Also, they could analyze the expressive behavior of his gestures and voice tones, and his reaction to challenging
Our book was divided into different chapters on various theorists and explained the major theories of personality that were proposed by the different psychologists. One of the theories that we learned about was the trait theories. Gordan Allport introduced the trait theory and his theory suggested that individual personalities are primarily composed of broad dispositions’. Eysenck’s three dimensions of Personality was also a part of the trait theory. Eysenck developed that model of personality upon three universal trails. And at last, the trait theory had the Big five dimensions which proposed that there are give basic dimensions of personality. One of the four conclusions in our textbook suggested that “until more unambiguous empirical research is available, the best one can do is to evaluate the various theories personally, and to accept concepts that make sense and reject those that do not”(531).
There are many different modern perspectives of psychology. These modern perspectives are cognitive,psycoanalysis,humanistic.socio-cultural,behavioral and evolutionary. When thinking about a key event in regard to different personality theories, I felt that I could most relate that key event of my life to the humanistic and behavioral theory. I will mainly be emphazing on these two modern perspectives. Moreover, I will then evaluate the key concepts and the principles of these two theories, and briefly compare and contrast their thoughts in the following paragraphs.
Extraversion is marked by pronounced engagement with the external world. Extraverts enjoy eing with people, are full of energy, and often experience positive emotions. They tend to be enthusiastic, action-oriented, individuals who are likely to say "Yes!" or "Let's go!" to opportunities for excitement. In groups they like to talk, assert themselves, and draw attention to themselves. (Beaumont 2003)
In today’s culture psychologist, sociologist, and scientist investigate several types of personalities. Personality is the pattern of behavior, though process, emotions, and reactions to the people that surround us on daily basis. Several test have been developed for testing personalities. Some test can be simple and short while others lengthy and complicated. Scholars demonstrated knowledge about personalities looking back many thousands of years. The Greeks published a well documented history in profiling people according to personality traits. Two interesting character personalities are conformist type personality and manipulative type personality.
In each day students are not only challenged with the studies of classwork but the social conflicts of societies ever changing fashions. The peer pressures of grade school can be provoking to the point of conforming to certain behaviors; this can have either an optimistic or pessimistic outcome on the well-being of any student. Adolescents attending grade school must take a stand to decide who and what they want to become in life. Every decision that is made in each moment will affect the outcome of one’s life. Conformity is a type of social influence involving a change in belief or behavior in order to fit in with a group. (McLeod) Therefore, being conformed shaped and molded by certain behaviors in society and choosing to rebel against the peer pressures of humane will define what type of character a man will have.

This essay will identify the main concepts of social-cognitive and humanistic approach, identify perspective differences and discuss approach limitations.

A layman would define personality as an individual’s characteristics in terms of how they think and behave. Many theorists, however, interprets personality differently resulting in various personality theories. Personality is determined by traits which are behaviours displayed by a person in most given situations. How a person reacts to common circumstances may also be used to foresee future behaviours. Traits are then categorized into types that allow easier comparisons to be made between each individual’s attributes. The focus of this paper would be on the biological aspects of personality whereby traits are thought to be inheritable through genetics and associated with the central nervous system. Behavioural genetics are research that makes use of results from studies done on family, twins and adoptions. The findings of how both genes and environment influences personality from the studies will be discussed. Some researchers found possible issues with the representativeness of such studies. The outline of Eysenck’s biological model of personality and arousal, Gray’s BAS/BIS theory and Cloninger’s biological model of personality will further explain the biological effect on personality.

Introverts are just as capable as extroverts when it comes to becoming a great leader. It is believed that hard problems in the workforce or any leadership situation need to be given a lot of thought and consideration before making a drastic descision; this is a skill that introverts tend to possess (Murphy, 2013, p. 60). Unlike introverts, extroverts have more of a tendency to form solutions to problems without thinking much about the outcome, and they do not spend a lot of time getting other opinions on the matter (Murphy, 2013, p. 60). An introvert by nature asks more questions and listens closely to others which are great leadership skills (Murphy, 2013, p. 60). Unlike that of extroverts, introverts tend to be more capable at controlling negative emotions (Murphy, 2013, p. 60). By doing this, solutions are not determined by emotion, but by other’s input and serious
