Anyone born within the last one hundred years is familiar with one of the greatest icons of lyrical music of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Michael Jackson. While he passed away in june of 2009. Jackson’s music still inspires people across every inch of the globe. The songs of which I have chosen to rate are “Man In The Mirror” (1987) and “Earth Song” (1995.) Most of Michael’s music represents a need for social change or a ploy for a greater good of society.

The 1987 album “Bad” is home to the song “Man In The Mirror”. A song that Jackson is well known for performing. This song explains the needs of society, that society is not a fair balance. This song is witness to the events that are causing destruction among different civilizations. While on this planet contains several different civilizations we are all forced to live on the same planet. We all share the same drop of blood that connects us to the problems faced in the world. Jackson shows this by lyrics such as “what have we done to the world”. A reference to the idea that we are our own worst enemy in a sense. This song leaves the listener impacted with a progressive idea of the spreading of peace. In this song you can hear the raw emotion that Jackson is expressing in his work.
