Walt Disney
Everyone is familiar with Disney, whether it be the theme parks, the channel, or the movies they create. But most people most likely do not know the history of how it got to the status that it has attained today. The basic knowledge around Disney is that it was started by Walt Disney but that is as far as their knowledge goes about Disney from the time the Disney Company was established to today. When Walt Disney first came out to Los Angeles to establish himself as an animator, he thought that he wasn’t going to able make an impact in animation. He said,“I was a little discouraged with the cartoon at that time, I felt at that time I thought I was getting into it too late. In other words, I thought the cartoon business was established in such a way that there was no chance to break into it.” (Kurti). Yet he was able to build a name for his company that is well known across the world. Walt Disney is the most influential person of the 1930-1940’s because of being the first animation studio at the time to do an animated feature film, the complexities of his animation techniques that are applied to this day,and transforming his animation studio to the empire it is today.

There’s so many different kinds of people who have had a huge impact on how and why we live our lives the way we do today. Some have even risked their lives by disobeying the law so they can accomplish what they feel is right, and some have made a difference even without putting their life on the line.Walt Disney was very influential to U.S culture in the 1950’s because a lot of major animated movies were released in this decade, the construction of Disneyland was started and finished and many other non-animated projects during this decade.
The Disney corporation is easily the greatest empire of entertainment in the world thanks to the creator Walt Disney and his brother. Disney’s influence has been great within culture and society and I learned how much of an influence Disney has had through our course this semester. This influence is reflected and broadcasted through the many works and readings that we examined in class. The articles gave me new knowledge about Disney that I was previously unaware of.
In reviewing the vast corporation of the Walt Disney Company and all that it has to offer, one profound statement made by Walt Disney himself comes to the forefront, “I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse” (Walt, n.d.). This statement suggests that the company has a strong focus to continually guide them in the way of the original idea of the company. Even as it watches the changes taking place in society and adapts to the new technologies and innovations, the Walt Disney Company has been able to implement diverse strategies for its growth and prosperity.
As a young girl, I spent hours watching my favorite television station, Disney Channel. Disney Channel offered a tight knit array of sitcoms and movies. Through my growing infatuation with the channel, I learned about its partnering radio station and its theme parks. Although Disney is widely recognized for its television shows, movies and theme parks, Disney plays a larger role in media as a whole. Walt Disney is the largest media conglomerate in the world and rakes in billions in profits annually through its variety of media outlets. Through economic convergence, single companies, like Disney, have interests across and within many kinds of media. This ultimately limits the variety of perspectives being let out into the public. Walt Disney, creator of all things “happily ever after”, renowned for his work in movies and tv, is not only a famous animator and film producer, he is also a pioneer in American history by changing the lives of many through his encouraging work in movies. Walt Disney is important to the study of American history because he created movies and tv shows that taught happiness and heartbreak to children. He taught them that being small cannot hold you back from being mighty and doing the right thing. He revealed different cultures to children, and broadened their views on the world around them. In doing this, he widened global communication and the understanding of varieties of cultures and ethnicities (4).

If any one has ever watched some of the really old animation such as Steamboat Willy done by Walt Disney Studios in the late 1920’s or some of the animations showing up on the Internet nowadays. They know that animation has come a long way and is still improving.
Walter Disney was the entrepreneur who had the creative skills. Knowing his limitations, he let other people do what he couldn't do good enough himself. This is an important skill, as it leads to quality products being made. The step from making short cartoons to doing full length cartoons and later live-action movie production is quite natural. What is not that natural and straight forward, and at the same time significant to the success of Disney, is the way in which Disney started to integrate vertically when they created the Buena Vista Distribution. The vertical integration along with the horizontal diversification has allowed for the exceptional building and exploitation of the huge synergies that exists in Disney, and which has to be regarded as the main reason for the success of Disney.
People have always had empathy and Disneyland movies and the theme park changed the way that they ran those things. The opening of Disneyland impacted America in the 1950s since it allowed adults to experience a child’s imagination and its continued importance today can be seen through everything in life. How does Disneyland impact society? Walt Disney had a vision: a place where children and adults could experience what it would feel like to be in a real life fairy tale and let their imagination run wild. When Disneyland opened its gates in 1955, came the change America wanted super badly, to be able to experience a real life Utopia for only one dollar. It changed the way the world saw not only amusements parks, but also a child’s imagination.

What child does not grow up to want to be a part of Disney in one way or another? Walt Disney Company opened its doors in 1923. In 1937 the very first fully animated cartoon was released, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. Disney Studios became an inspiration for many cartoonists, but none more than, John Lasseter. Lasseter dreamed of becoming part of the Walt Disney Company family. As a child he watched the 1963 film, “The Sword and the Stone”, and told his mother he wanted to draw for Disney. In high school Lasseter read “The Art of Animation” and discovered his passion and people could earn a living by drawing cartoons. He immediately started writing Disney Studios and let them know he was extremely interested in drawing cartoons for them. Disney Studio representatives told Lasseter to get a great art education. Lasseter attended the California Institute of Arts and enrolled in the Character Animation Program. During the summer he would get jobs with Disney which only made him more passionate about animation. In 1979, Lasseter finally joined the Disney family as an animator.

The films have brought about the shaping of morals, behaviors and characters of not only children, but also adults in todays society, through engaging them in a constant series of unthinking consumption. In addition, most of the films in Disney bring out many different gender roles and people who grew up watching them have been influenced greatly by the content in the films (Blum 13). This paper will involve the various roles played by the characters in the films and how their roles have influenced the society at large.
Animation as an art form has been around for almost one hundred years. From the earliest days of hand drawn cels, individual pictures strung together, to the complex rendering of 3-D virtual worlds, animation packs peoples' lives. Do you wonder how the computer-animated movies are made or want to become a computer animator? Computer Animation is a fast growing field. There are many different areas to of animation, computer animation is what this paper is about, history of animation and how it came to be and how to get there and what computer animators do for their job is what is in this paper.
In this chapter, it has shown a brief history of animation and how it started in the early days of animation. It also discussed about 2D in brief and 3D. Also the techniques applied in making of animation since early ages with the evolution of 2D to 3D animation.
