Mistakes are the key part of a discovery. So many ancient people have discovered amazing things that we use in present day! Some of these inventors have made unlimited mistakes, but in the end they made a huge difference. Which now, the years we are living in make life easier you can say. For example, Percy Spencer! Great way to explain how he made a difference. According to (How a Melted Bar of Chocolate Changed Our Kitchens) it says that Spencer discovered how a chocolate bar melted. Percy was a man that loved to invent things. When he was 16 he was working full-time in a machine shop. In my point of view he seemed like a man who was determined to discover many things that not everyone is capable of finding out. Percy was lucky enough to discover the microwave. He started working for a company called Raytheon. One of the most famous company. Believe it or not it took him 20 years, a lot of patience and a lot of mistakes. It also …show more content…
Weird name but important guy. Now this man, his story is way different that Percy Spencer. His goal was to find gold! In (Lost Cities, Lost Treasure) it states that Schliemann was a business man with a scholar. He was born in Germany in 1822. When we was a young man he "always dreamed of discovering treasures of the ancient world". Heinrich was only 9 years old he already made a plan to search for gold. I guess you can say he had a gold rush. All of this thinking of gold brought him to California. His studying and everything he did while we was at school, he decided to start his second career as in archaeologist. Schliemann was a very intelligent, curious, and super hungry for gold and/or fame. In 1871 he was digging for all those nuggets. That day him and a man named Calvert discovered gold. There were many damages done. But just imagine without neither of them discovering this, we wouldn't have found gold. For what he use in present
Andrew Carnegie, a robber barron that took advantage of his poor employees and his relentless competition, his personal intentions and innovations in the steel industry and philanthropic distributions positively changed America's society and views of education. Early 19th century, the American industrialist of the time, we're gathering good fortunes through Carnegie's ideas and initiatives. This man started out onto the road to wealth and success, starting from rags to the riches and earned the reputation he brought among himself, bringing him into American history. For those who exploited others on the road to wealth were automatically labeled as “robber-barrons" i.e. John D. Rockefeller, Ph.D. Nevertheless, those whose personal success positively impacted the United States, earning the title of the" captains of industry" surprisingly Andrew Carnegie happened to do both.
Henry Ford and Walter Reuther are two of the biggest names in the world of automobile industries and organized labor. They were both activists in their own way. Also, they were completely different from each other, one could even argue that they were opposites. Their ideas were contradicting, but still both of them had positive effects on society.
Inventors make many lives more comfortable and convenient. George Edward Alcorn, Jr. was a well-known inventor, but he was a well-established scientist and businessman.... ... middle of paper ... ...
One person’s ideas won’t change the world but it can make a significant impact. George Washington Carver overcame slavery but his ideas about crops and peanuts clearly improved life for many people. George Washington Carver is best known for his agricultural experimentation especially on the uses of the peanut but his life and research led to a better life for many. His legacy is that regardless of your race you can achieve great things if you preserve.
Many great scientists have found lost cities and great treasures, how? By making mistakes. Mistakes have led to great discoveries and rich people. Many errors lead to lost treasure, making new things, and you can learn from them; so you do not make the same mistake again. Therefore, mistakes are crucial part of a discovery.
People like Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, and J.P. Morgan are men who possessed the intellect, the foresight, and most importantly the work ethic to become powerful industrialists. These men displayed their work ethic to the country by being ruthless and tireless. They started something so important that a hundred years later it is still making a huge contribution to our country (Maury Klein pg. 32). What they started was the industrial revolution. Today our country is the most powerful in the world because of our great wealth. This wealth comes from the strength of our industry. “If thou does not sow, thou does not reap”(Hofstadter Recon.-Present Day pg.79). Carnegie, Rockefeller, and Morgan are the epitome of this statement.
Benjamin Franklin is someone that I look up to and his achievements are far greater than most. The first person that comes to mind when I think of a life given to the service of others is Benjamin Franklin because he pioneered the spirit of self-help in America, there was no-one who ever lived or is living on the face of this Earth who is more extraordinary and impacting than Benjamin Franklin, many people just see him as “the guy on the $100 bill” but what you will know is that he’s is truly the definition of success and by far the greatest man to ever live in colonial America.
The reality was that Heinrich Schliemann was an incredible con man, a generally unlikable braggart who succeeded only because of his queer mix of genius and fraudulence. He had a shylock's conscience when it came to business dealings, and his shady methods pervaded both his life and his archaeology (Burg, 15-31). Schliemann had a habit of rewriting his past in order to paint a more dramatic picture of himself. Among the events he reported that have been found to be grossly untrue are his tales of being entertained by the American president Millard Fillmore and his wife in 1851, and his narrow escape from the San Francisco fire of that same year (Traill 9-13). More disturbing is when he applies these tactics to his archaeology. In December of 1981 Professor David Traill, a Latinist, concluded that the "Treasure of Priam", Schliemann's
Schliemann wrote extensively about his excavation, both with books and articles that he sent to major news publications such as The Times and The Daily Telegraph. In these writings he detailed his findings and created a new level of fascination and excitement in the city of Troy and the Trojan War. Whilst what he wrote at times was somewhat embellished as was his style the interest he generated helped make the story of the Trojan War and the city of Troy become a more well known story and location. This interest he helped generate around the site along with the findings of his assistant Wilhelm Dörpfeld helped increase public interest at the time in Ancient Greek Mythology. It is by creating this interest in the story of the Trojan War and the city of Troy that Schliemann helped secure an interest in the site well into the future. Whilst this isn’t a direct contribution to the historical investigation of the Trojan War it did open a new interest in Archaeology in the general
He was an amazing mathematician, astounding physicist, but he is most known for proving that the sun does not revolve around the Earth, and it is the other way around. He is most famous for the discovery of the heliocentric orbit of Earth. With the help of Kepler and Copernicus, he proved that the Earth isn't the center of the universe. He sentenced under house arrest by the church for saying something against the Bible. In addition he had to say to the public that his research is wrong but he knew that the Earth didn't stay still.

In conclusion both Andrew Carnegie and Steve Jobs were very successful hard working entrepreneurs. They impacted America in such a way that their innovations and business ideas have changed the way we look and use technology today. They are true Captains of Industry who used their power, success and wealth to help their communities and America
Medicine, household products, and even makeup get invented every day by people mixing different things together and seeing what happens. The flexibility and freedom that chemistry lab entails is liberating; while most other fields of science have set facts and rules, lab allows people to think outside of the box, and sometimes they're lucky enough to discover something new. Influential people aren't always geniuses and geniuses aren't always influential. History, specifically the history of innovators and influential people, is another interest of mine. Numerous individuals such as Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Walt Disney, and J. K. Rowling were not geniuses or notable in any way before their innovations. Thomas Edison’s teacher said he was “too stupid to learn anything,” Walt Disney once got fired for not being creative enough, J. K. Rowling was rejected 12 times for her Harry Potter books, and Henry Ford’s first attempt at the motor industry was less than abysmal. All of these people ended up proving society wrong by rising up to the challenge and achieving their goals. Their stories give me incredible hope and courage to pull through any obstacles that may come my way and never let anyone get me down. They teach me that success must be earned and I believe I’m ready to work my hardest in order to achieve my goals. As I mentioned before, I felt as though I didn’t fit in with all the overachievers in my AP
For instance William Higinbotham, the man who possibly created the first game ever documented.Sure there were other inventions besides William’s , but his was ground breaking due to it working perfectly while others didnt reach it.In October 18, 1958 WIlliam created “Tennis for Two” which was similar to pong but was played on a computer the size of a microwave.Tennis for Two spread worldwide and later was built on to this day.
I have chosen two of them who were in many ways just opposites. One is extremely famous and the other is almost unknown except to specialists. The most famous is of course Albert Einstein. He has significantly altered our view of the world with his Theory of Relativity.
