Hitler’s Rise to Power Adolf Hitler was a German politician and leader of the Nazi party. He was the chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945 and the dictator of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945. Hitler led Germany throughout World War 2 and tried to make Germany the top country. Hitler’s rise to power was based upon long term factors like Germany’s need for help, the horror of his secret police, Weimar system, his propaganda, and the speeches he gave. There are many reasons how Hitler gained power like the Treaty of Versailles, the Great Depression, propaganda and the Government. The Wall Street Crash in America was an economic crisis affecting most developed nations in the early and mid 1930s. It was set off by a stock market crash in New York City in 1929 which then spread beyond the United States and by the end of 1932 America was in the lowest point of the greatest economic depression in their history. The number of unemployed people reached up to 13 million. The Wall Street Crash in 1929 affected Germany because they relied on America for a lot of their production and exports, but mostly relied on American loans. During the Wall Street Crash Germany owed a lot of money to other countries after World War 1 so the depression made it even worse. The Great Depression helped Hitler because Germans were poor and tired after the war due to Germany having to pay $8,867,390,400 and the Wall Street Crash that left millions of Germans homeless and unemployed. Hitler told the Germans that he would save them and get them out the Great Depression if they follow and supported him, he made an army of supporters and made them feel like they had power Germans believed Hitler and Hitler then became leader or dictator. Germans were desperate and Hitler told them that he would make everything better and showed order, as a result they followed him and practically gave him the power. Other political parties were weak because they could not agree on a solution to tackle the economic problem, even though they had more supporters than the Nazis. At the July 1932 elections the Nazis won more votes than any other political party. Hitler and his Nazi party promised simple solutions and came across as united and strong.
