Have you ever read any of Emily Dickinson's poems? Emily Dickinson was a poet and very talented women. From a young age she had a love for poems and writing, and she even loved poetry so much that she even had a poem she wrote put on her grave. As Emily grew older she became more responsible and quiet.
Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 at 5 o'clock in the morning (Kirk 19). From a young age she was not very social and would write poems about subjects such as death. Even though she did have friends she sometimes would go silent and write more poems (Kirk 35). One of her biggest fears was that if she would have published the poems she would not have escaped criticism for changing the meaning of many words ( “Emily Dickinson”5). It is said that she was influenced by many writers such as Edgar Allan Poe or Ralph Waldo Emerson ( “Emily Dickinson “1).But out of those two writers her favorite was Emily Bronte, when she died Emily became so grief that she stopped writing poetry till March of the following year( Kirk 73). Between 1858 and 1866 Dickinson wrote over 1100 poems. Most are more than 16 lines long and they are about love, death, separation, and God (“Emily Dickinson “2). (Kirk 99).A year after her father died her mother had a paralyzing stroke that left her paralyzed and disabled until the morning of November 14,1882 when she died from neuralgia.By the absence of her mother and father , Emily grew more depressed and it began to show in her letters. After 4 years without Emily of a kidney disease in the afternoon of May 15 1886. In the last 20 years of her life she wrote less than 50 poems in one year. (“Emily Dickinson”3). “One of the finest lyric poets in the English language, the American poet Emily Dickinson was known as an observer of nature and a wise interpreter of human passion.Her family and friends published most of her work through the years of 1890 and 1955” (Emily Dickinson“1). In conclusion as Emily lived her life while she became more responsible and very observant. She lived a good life between her birth and deaths. In her life her family was her priority. Even though it has been many years since her last poem was published her legacy and poems still live
