Bruce Lee was influential in many ways, as a martial arts instructor, philosopher, father and many more things. Bruce Lee was born November 27, 1940 and as a young child he began his acting career, he starred in countless movies and even worked on tv shows. At a young age he studied in martial arts in Hong Kong then returned to the U.S where he became the man admired by many even today. To begin with, for someone to influence others they would need to have been influenced themselves. Bruce Lee always had a passion for fighting and was intrigued by different fighting styles. He eventually got in serious trouble with police and was sent away to live in the United States with family friends. At that moment, Bruce knew he also needed to focus Though Bruce was an accomplished actor, he had many other talents that made his even more memorable. He was a skilled dancer, who had won a cha-cha competition in Hong Kong and studied ballet. Upon first moving to America, he taught dance and martial arts to help bring a steady cash flow. Dance did not simply provide a paycheck for Bruce but it also helped to make his fighting style more original. With that, he was able to create his own fighting style known as Jeet Kune Do, this was a modified version of Wing Chun that included other techniques like fencing and Kung Fu. Bruce Lee said, Jeet Kune Do was mainly focused on ways to avoid a hit. This was revolutionary in the fighting world and on screen. Bruce Lee paved a way for martial artists and Asian actors, he was a hit in Hollywood. It did not stop there though, he also owned 3 different martial arts schools, two in California and one in in Seattle, Washington. Bruce was a dancer, instructor, skilled fighter and actor but most importantly was a devoted husband to Linda Emery and a father to a young boy named Brandon and a girl named Shannon. His daughter, Shannon now speaks publicly about her father. She says he was a hero to many people, especially her. She is an actress, martial artist and was lucky enough to learn her father’s style Jeet Kune Do under one of Bruce’s students. Unfortunately, Brandon Lee is not here with us anymore. He thought so highly of his father; he followed in Bruce’s footsteps spending eight years in Hong Kong, becoming an actor, specializing in martial arts and had died young and tragically. Brandon had a hard time coping with the loss of his father and being the son of Bruce Lee and living up to the expectations. Brandon had a hard time in school continuously dropping in and out of school. Brandon wanted to honor his father
Using martial arts is a unique way of trying to connect back to his ancestors and be prideful about his culture. Many aboriginals are taught in residential schools that being First Nations is something to be ashamed of, but Wayne does not want to be ashamed: “Lillian spent long hours teaching the boy the intricacies of the Anishnawbe, so know he spoke it better than most seventy–year-olds” (150). Wayne is trying to live a more traditional life than his sister, but the world has become less and less traditional in its own way. By living on an island by himself, Wayne is trying to live off the land. He couldn’t do it on the reserve, but he can easily do it on the island. He is also spiritual like an aboriginal, and demonstrates this spirituality a couple times. One example of him doing this is “I know that she was contributing to what we call the circle of life. She passed on so that somewhere out there, a baby could be born in her place.” (187) She was clearly in tune with nature and spiritually, and I think that some of that passed on to Wayne. Wayne seems to understand that his mother was okay with dying, just so that a child could be born. In his eyes, it could not be stopped and a family with a young child would be made. His martial arts use a variety of animal tactics to be more tactful. “It took me a while, but I have based a style of fighting on each of the
When Fred Karimian started The Ohio State University Jeet Kune Do club in 1982-83 (which later became the Do-Jung-Ishu Club) he said the basic goal of the club is to show what he knew about martial arts and fighting. A part of that goal as he often said, speaking with an Iranian accent, “…is not to become so famous.” Fred did become well known as a fierce fighter and he could have easily become famous, but he chose another path and continues to this day to be very successful in his finance career and as a husband and father.

The Duke takes his place in history. John Wayne, one of America’s greatest actors and directors of all time. His fame and superstardom led to many problems in his career. His image as an icon of American individualism and the frontier spirit has overshadowed his career to such an extent that it is almost impossible for the fans and writers to separate Wayne the legend from Wayne the actor and Wayne the man.
...ee arguably became one the most beloved generals in American history. His troops developed an immense sense of respect for him. Lee was able to win large-scale battles with only sliver of the men that the Union army contained. He served in a Civil War, which caused over six hundred thousand deaths, and where thousands of fellow countrymen fought to their death either attempting to preserve the Union or break away from it. He served as a great motivator for the Army of Northern Virginia. Lee eventually fell to overwhelming numbers, lack of resources, but never lost pride in his men. Although Lee fought for the defeated Confederacy, he was admirable during the period of reconstruction. He became the epitome of the quote his father extolled,” First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen.
...as shown time and time again, that he is not just an amazing performer and musician, but an amazing person as well. He constantly adds new sounds and styles to his music, but still keeping the “E Street” sound. After years of dedication, hard-work, and passion he has become truly one of the greatest and most well-known musicians of all time. His music will live on, even after he is gone. With his personality and music he has earned the nickname, “The Boss.” When he received a Kennedy Center Honor, President Obama said, “I may be the President, but Bruce is the Boss.” He lives up to the nickname still.

At the age of 12, Bruce begins taking Martial-Arts instruction from the legendary Sifu Yap-Man, a master of the art of "Wing-Chun" gung-fu. During the next few years, when he was not practicing his art, he could be found in the movie studios with his father. With an impressive repertoire of movies, books, TV shows, comics, and exclusive memorabilia; the Batman has gained world recognized fame and has played an iconic role for the DC universe. Unlike his other crime fighting colleagues such as Superman or the Flash, Batman the alter ego of billionaire Bruce Wayne does not possess any superhuman powers but instead relies on what DC refers to as his “physical prowess” and “technical ingenuity” (Origins). Perhaps one can consider the vast wealth of Mr. Wayne his true power but in a conjured world packed with villains and other heroes Batman relies perhaps the most important tool a hero can have, his mind. Managing two identities in secrecy Bruce Wayne shows in a sense the power each average individual
Bruce Lee was born, November 27th 1940, in San Francisco, in the Year of the Dragon, according to the Chinese zodiac. A year later, in 1941, he and his family moved to Hong Kong. While growing up, Bruce was constantly getting into street fights and to keep himself disciplined, he enrolled into a Martial Arts school for Wing Chun. After several years of learning, he mastered the fighting skill. Because he felt that Wing Chun had his limits, he developed his own called, Jeet Kune Do, or “The Way of the Intercepting Fist”.
“Whenever she had to warn us about life, my mother told stories that ran like this one, a story to grow up on. She tested our strengths to establish realities”(5). In the book “The Woman Warrior,” Maxine Kingston is most interested in finding out about Chinese culture and history and relating them to her emerging American sense of self. One of the main ways she does so is listening to her mother’s talk-stories about the family’s Chinese past and applying them to her life.
Mark Salzman was perfecting his calligraphy skills and as weeks had passed he began to make progress. He was getting tired of the models and wanted to try something new. When he told Hai Bin,(his teacher), he frowned and said,”Some people spend their entire lives researching a single model. You should be willing to spend a year on this one.” This is an example of the dedication and perseverance these men have towards their chosen artform or skill. Another example of this theme, was Mark’s Wushu teacher, Pan, who punched a fifty pound plate of steel up to ten thousand times a day. Mark’s relentless practicing of the many forms of Wushu was influenced by Pan.
People define being influential as having someone or something looking up to you. Another way people define being influential is having control over something. Influence can be used in many ways, it can be used to make you buy something, or it can make you think different, it can also be used to help encourage people. Most of the time famous people are influential to the lower tier an example would be a professional baseball player would be a big influence to someone who is just starting out, or an popular actor influential too. Although some people say that having much influence is bad because it can make you become greedy with power but, Stan Lee proves that wrong by using his influence to help to other people in his life. He also worked very hard to show to everyone else how badly he wanted to make his dream come true. His dedication to his career proves to be a great reason for being influential. He changed the way people looked at comics and how they were created. He built his personality into the comics he created so that he knows that whoever was reading them would get enjoyment from them. Although he faced a lot of hardships and criticisms in his life Stan Lee deserves to be in the top 100 influential people because he used his vision to see others and himself improve in their knowledge throughout life, while revolutionizing the comic industry giving the world an abundance of content to enjoy and giving back to the people in every way possible.

He was talking about dominantly expressing ones self through martial arts by letting go of rigid styles or patterns you’ve learned, and freely adapt in combat so as to fluidly move with your opponent, as in a dance, then to “crash” into your opponent in victory. What Bruce Lee described was a state of total awareness of one’s environment so as to continuously be able to entrain one’s self to it.
