Throughout our lives, we’ve met many people who don’t read books. Some people believe books are boring; they don’t have any pizazz or action. Books don’t teach you anything and they’re a waste of time. James Baldwin would disagree with these people and say the following words, “You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me the most were the very things that connected me with all people who were alive, or who had ever been alive.” James Baldwin is telling society books are important. They help you realize what’s going on in today’s world. They also show a different perspectives of someone else life. Me, as a person, I agree with James Baldwin. As I reader I had read a lot of books. Some of these books made me realize all of different life strategies and what are the important aspect of life. One book that reflects my life is, The Color of Water by James McBride. This book is about how the author, James who was color skin, didn't know his true is identity. The reason why he doesn't know his true identity is because his mother, Ruth who is white, had hid her identity from James of whom she really is and where she came from. James will always ask his mother questions that help him develop his mind of who he is. But when he ask his mother these question her replies be, "God made us" or "stop asking stupid question." This book teach me to be true myself. It had thought me to be proud of who I am and what I am. When I was freshman year, I wasn't the "real" Brandon who I consider myself today. When I was freshman year I had done things that show my false identity. I was just like Ruth who hides her identity and mak... ... middle of paper ... ...ack again. As well to S.E Hinton, who wrote The Outsiders, help me develop the characteristics of being loyal, trustworthy, respectful and maturity. But the main author is Ray Bradbury, who wrote Fahrenheit 451, who made me realize books are important to the world. As we live in society today that barely read books, it’s terrible that their minds are missing the knowledge they need to be successful. Some people believe books are boring; they don’t have any pizazz or action. If I was Montag and I found out how people don’t read. I would Enlightment them just like how John Locke enlighten the people to take back their natural rights. I say if we don’t read this world would be chaos. Grad a book people! Books are valuable. Take this advantage so you could be successful. READ! If I find books interesting so can you. When you read just don’t judge a book by its color.
