During the 1970s, life lacked what many consider a necessity today: a personal computer. Major competition in making the best software and electronics didn’t yet exist. Bill Gates’ addiction for computer coding created something that changed technology and shaped life today. Bill Gates has become significant in the United States by using his brilliance in technology and business to make an impact; he reinvented computer operating systems and software with Microsoft, and is responsible for several philanthropic efforts.
Bill Gates programmed in school, which was typing out the specific coded software instructions to control the operations of the computer. This began the foundation of what was his tremendous impact. It started in 1975, when Gates and his classmate Paul Allen used the computer language BASIC, or the Beginner’s All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code, for microcomputers in their school. Keith Ferrell states, “Microsoft began in 1975 as an informal business partnership between former schoolmates Bill Gates and Paul Allen. The two men adapted the programming language BASIC (Beginner's All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) for use with the earliest home computer, the MITS (Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems) Altair 8800” (Ferrell). Bill later dropped out of Harvard to publish and market their program they had coded together. In 1980, Microsoft was selected by IBM to design the operating system for its first personal computer (Ferrell). Their operating system was very different and new. According to Ferrell:
In 1985, Microsoft introduced the first of a series of operating systems called Windows. These programs employ a graphical user interface (GUI), which allows people to issue commands by pointing to on-scre...

Have you ever taking into consideration what type of world we live in right now? It is a cyber world full of great expansions, opportunities, innovative ideas, and technology. All most everyone has heard of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, alongside with Ben Ive. But does anyone hear of the people behind the scenes, or give any credit to them? Top programmers around the world such as Dennis Ritchie, Ken Thompson, Bjarne Stroustrup, and Tim Berners-Lee develop important things that are needed for advancement in technology and they don’t get any recognition. For Dennis Ritchie, he helped build one of the most popular operating systems in the world, but made all by himself a compiler for his new programming language that is the basis for all hardware devices such as phones, machinery, computers, and etc,yet still gets hardly no attention. Although Dennis has shaped the cyber world into great success for the future and has certainly put more room to grow in years to come, he puts the digital era on the brink of exploding with new ideas and innovations.

Gates. There is a lot more to Bill Gates than being the richest man in
When most people hear about Bill Gates the first thing that comes to mind is the obscene amount of money he has made through out his career. Owning many different foundations, the most common foundation known to most college students is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that provide many different scholarships. However, this foundation also does various things to give back to communities and aiding suffering countries. Within this foundation there are also various branches such as the United States Program, The Global Development Program and the Global health program that have grown over time making the Gates a commonly used household name.
This was the same year when Bill Gates and Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft. In 1981, Bill Gates’ company was hired to develop an operating system but rather than creating a new operating system they decided to buy a preexisting operation system called QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System) for the amount of 50,000 dollars. After modifying the operating system they bought, they renamed the operating system to MS-DOS. After MS-DOS began selling it brought in a steady income for Gates due to the fact that the PC market was growing and there weren’t many competitors in the market for them to compete with. In 1986, when Microsoft Corporation went public, it made Gates into a millionaire overnight. The following year, Microsoft released their first ever version of
The company was founded in 1975 by William Henry Gates III -- currently the chairman of Microsoft and the wealthiest man in the world -- when he called the makers of a new microcomputer, MITS, and asked to demonstrate the BASIC programming language for the system. After the demonstration, MITS agreed to distribute Altair BASIC so Bill Gates left Harvard University, moved to where MITS was located, and founded Microsoft in ...
“The idea that would spawn microsoft generated when Paul Allen showed Bill Gates the January 1,1975 issue of popular electronics that demonstrated Altair 8800.” (Nytime.com). Gates and Allen were curious and saw potential to make it better than what it already was. This soon led to make the microcomputer and he would call it the Micro Instrument and Telemetry system (MITS).
He had helped IBM with an operating system for their new personal computer coming out soon. “In order to meet the IBM deadline, Gates paid $50,000 for the rights to a rudimentary operating system called "Q-DOS" ("quick and dirty operating system") designed by a Seattle programmer. Gates and his team made some adjustments to the system and added some new features, renaming the result MS-DOS (after Microsoft)”(McGuire 1). Bill Gates had made his first operating system which was the kickstart to his new company called Microsoft. One problem he went through was when his amazing success brought him to court.
Bill Gates Through his intelligence and excellent business skills, Bill Gates was able to change the world. As a technological genius, he founded the world's largest software company. While Bill Gates was at junior high a group of parents raise money to purchase the first computerized terminal in the school. When that happened he decided to take all his time to work on that system teaming with other students to learn about different operating systems. He excelled in his learning of systems and he started developing ideas to make business with companies in order to learn how they make their terminals. His mind for busi...
So here I present you the path that gave us the Bill Gates we have today. Firstly, Bill Gates was fortunate enough to be born in a fine and educated family, where his parents were an educator and a lawyer. He had the privilege to all the essential necessities, such as clothing, food, and water sources which many other kids do not have. More than that, his family was wealthy enough to buy him toys and games and other things which would be far too extravagant to others. These small things created a stronger foundation for Bill Gates’
“ A computer in every home, and Microsoft software on every computer.” ( "Bill Gates." News) This is a comment and later a slogan of Bill Gates and Microsoft. Bill Gates is one of the richest men of the world because of his intellect, still he spend $28 million dollar to charity. Mr. Gates is one of many great Americans, who achieved a lot for our world. Bill was a genius even in his early life and had great accomplishments outside of Microsoft. Also Bill has many different great projects.
Since the beginning of time, humans have thought and made many inventions. Repeatedly the newer one is better than the older. Our minds have created many remarkable things, however the best invention we ever created is the computer. computers are constantly growing and becoming better every day. Every day computers are capable of doing new things. Even though computers have helped us a lot in our daily lives, many jobs have been lost because of it, now the computer can do all of the things a man can do in seconds! Everything in the world relies on computers and if a universal threat happens in which all computers just malfunction then we are doomed. Computers need to be programmed to be able to work or else it would just be a useless chunk of metal. And we humans need tools to be able to live; we program the computer and it could do a lot of necessary functions that have to be done. It is like a mutual effect between us and he computer (s01821169 1).
computer. The electronic computer has been around for over a half-century, but its ancestors have been around for 2000 years. However, only in the last 40 years has it changed the American society. From the first wooden abacus to the latest high-speed microprocessor, the computer has changed nearly every aspect of people’s lives for the
