How Acting Affected My Life

Acting is a different concept for every single person. It might have a familiar definition or explanation but I think every person has a different experience they attach to word acting. Whether it is as an audience member, someone who has watched a great performance being done, a failed acting experience or maybe even just reading a small skit in class. Acting has affected my life in so many different ways. It’s one of the reasons I came to the University of Northern Iowa. I wanted to go to a school that was a relatively big school that had a great theater program, but that was close enough to my house. As of now my future goals/plan are too advance my knowledge on all things acting, gain more experience by participating in college theater, community theater, and any other acting/ singing opportunities. Eventually I would love to be acting/ singing/ performing on stage, whether that be as an actor or a musician. Performing and sharing my music is a very important and personally matter. I want everyone to know my story and the story of my parents and grandparents. Acting to me at this point is connecting and sharing the character’s thoughts and feelings in a conveying way to the audience. Sharing the authors words and making the audience believe that whatever the situation is happened or making the words relatable. Having done some small roles/ large group and individual speech has really given me a strong connection to acting. In all the roles that I have done I have (which is really not that many) really only felt emotionally connected to one. It was from individual speech and I think I felt really connected to that role because I choose the role and the words really spoke to me.
