Every type of accommodation, may be private such as house or commercial such as hotels needs to be kept clean and safe so that it looks attractive and inviting to all. The principal idea of housekeeping began from keeping the houses clean and has spread over to commercial sections such as hotels becoming one of the most critical aspects in the industries. 1.3 Functions
Housekeeping overall focuses on cleaning and maintaining the rooms, public areas, lobbies etc. all of this ensures promotion of a comfortable, attractive and hygienic environment for the guests. Bed-making also comes under the functions of accommodations as well as provision of guest supplies keeping in mind the modern trends and changing needs of the customers. To ensure clean and hygienic environment not only extending to hotel properties, but also to guest properties is also taken into consideration by the Laundry section of the housekeeping.

Importance of good supplies in the bathroom was never considered an important asset by the hotels, but the situation has changed. The recent trends in the luxury hotels include turning the bathroom into a relaxing and rejuvenating space with plenty of supplies available in the place. The hotels are now becoming critical in choosing the toiletries which have been evolved after research
and supplying shampoos, conditioners, oils, creams and lotions of only branded companies taking into consideration that guests are also very critical and choosy in these aspects. The modern trends in supplies in the bathrooms are:

The Portman hotel is one of the luxury hotels in the hotel industry. The size of the hotel is relatively small; it has only 348 rooms and 21 floors. The objective of this hotel is to bring Asian hospitality to the US. This hotel is different from other hotel because it offers the services of personal valet and also it had “ no rules for the guests”.
The hotel we were staying in was Hampton Inn. Using the hotel key was kind of troublesome at first but that didn’t matter. When we got in to the room, it looked reasonably tidy and well-kept although, there were some minor issues. First, I noticed there was a stain that was on the curtain. And second, the box of tissues in the bathroom was wet. These issues weren’t too major but they are some things to look out for.

By comparing an average 2-3 star hotel with a 5-star hotel, I was able to gain a better understanding of the different services offered in hotels and the different expectations that certain guests have in their stay.

Each staff member of the restaurant should have nice and clean hygiene along with good manners.
