It is made of Black fabric. The hoodie has black thread/seams used to keep the whole thing from falling apart. From the front you can see that on the left breast it has a white embroidered kiwi which is approximately 6 centimeters in diameter. On the right breast it has the Burnside High School logo/emblem which is the cabbage trees also embroidered in white with Burnside High School Netball included in the embroidered design. On the front it also has a large kangaroo type pocket on the front which is very useful, this pocket is just plain black and made out of the same fabric as the rest of the hoodie. It also has 2 draw strings that you can see at the front which as from the hood (at the back). From the back you can see the double lined …show more content…

The hoodie is 50% Cotton - Cotton is natural in the sense that the cotton plant grows the cotton fibers. Cotton is soft, absorbent and breathable, strong, tough and not afraid to get its fibers dirty. You can rely on it to last a long time and not fall apart on the first wear and/or wash. Since cotton is breathable and doesn’t retain odors like oil-based fabrics. This means that clothes made from cotton don't need to be washed after every single wear so that can help your clothes last even longer. And 50% Polyester - Polyester is man made in a chemical process from substances extracted from oil. Polyester fabrics and fibers are incredibly strong, durable and resistent to wrinkles. Polyester withstands wear and tear longer and retains its shape even in harsh climates. I think that using a mix of heavy blended (as it says on the tag) polyester (50%) and cotton (50%) was definitely the best choice on the manufacturer's behalf as it is very practical and functional for the type of garment it is.Another type of fabric that they could have used could have been: Sweatshirt fleece which has jersey fabric on one side and fleece on the other. If they chose to make it out of sweatshirt fleece they would have had to make sure that was a light-medium fleece and wasn’t a heavy weight fleece as it would be bulky and would make the hoodie tight and may not have enough stretch. I think that the blend of …show more content…

For my project I will be doing a hoodie quite similar to this existing one. I will improve the design by making it fit better to me and using a different material. Although I do like what it is made of I feel like it sometimes feels a little bit heavy, especially on warmer days. I will fix this by using a fabric that is more lightweight and maybe thinner. By making a change in the type of fabric I think it would actually make it more comfortable. Although I doubt choosing a fabric that is more lightweight would be warmer, it would be improved because it would be much more comfortable and easier to layer. Apart from that design modification I don’t really think I would make any other drastic changes to it. Something that could be added to improve the design could be adding a zip down the front of the hoodie. By adding a zip down the front that means that me as the wear would be able to unzip the front of it instead of taking the whole thing off. This would improve the hoodie because sometimes when I’m wearing it I get too hot and then when I take it off I get too cold so if it had a zip I would just be able to unzip it to get more air near my body to cool me down but still stay warm. The best parts of this existing hoodie would be the style of it since its slightly oversized, the hood and the screen print on the back. The worst parts would be the
