Recommended: Tourism affects local community

Hood River, known as the windsurfing capital of the world, with winds present at all times of day, attracts tourists from all over the world who enjoy the sport. However, the winds of the Columbia are not the only attractions of the Gorge.
We are also home of Mount Hood, the tallest peak in Oregon, that fulfills the hearts of snowboarders and skiers. This county is known for its gorgeous scenery, mountains, forests and waterfalls. It provides its citizens and tourist with amazing places to hike and bike. It is located in across from White Salmon, Washington. A neighboring community that also is filled with beautiful scenary.
According to biggestcities.com, Hood River’s population in 1990 was 4,663, in 2000 6,070 and in 2010 it increased to 7,167. I will analyze this current data to determine the growth rate and predict the future population growth of Hood River, Oregon.

One of the most valuable reasons for the dam to remain active is that “Lake Powell generates four hundred fifty five million dollars per year in tourist revenue, without this cash inflow, gas-and-motel towns . . . would undoubtedly wilt, and surrounding counties and states would lose a substantial tax base” (Farmer 185). This facility became terribly downtrodden in its later years due to the launch of new local facilities and programs and the degradation of the buildings. Toward the end PSH was eerily similar to the hospitals they sought to replace.
