Hong Kong 1.3 Activities Hong Kong has many wonderful activities throughout the year. As its mixed culture of the west and east, Hong Kong holds both traditional Chinese and western festival, like the most important Chinese New Year celebration and western Christmas day. Moreover, it has been influenced by colonial rule and Chinese culture, Hong Kong has a flourishing arts scene that it not only has art festivals, orchestras, and opera performances but also has international film festivals and other global events. Furthermore, Hong Kong has many international sports events. For instant, international dragon boat races, FIVB volleyball world grand Prix, and FIA formula E Hong Kong ePrix. 1.4 Image Hong Kong city has both positive and negative images. On the positive aspect, Hong Kong has a significant convenient transportation, it has an excellent transport system. Besides the transport factor, security is another important issue should be considered. Hong Kong is also a safe city to visit and it has lower terrorist threats. The most famous and traditional cuisine is dim sum, also known as yum cha, which means drinking tea. This is a brunch or lunch affair and most dim sums are steamed dishes, as well as pan-fried, deep-fried, and baked served in bamboo containers. Chinese barbecue is also very common in Hong Kong; it is often known as siu mei. Restaurants serve barbecued meats, which are roasted on spits over an open fire or in a rotisserie oven.
