Honesty comes from within. Many people throughout the world lack integrity. For Someone to have integrity, Carter suggests that they must go through these stages of integrity. they must discernment right from wrong, informed action, and verbalize one’s intent. First, for an integral person, you must discern right from wrong. Carter empathizes that integrity takes time and emotional energy. We don’t take the time to discern right from wrong rather we do what we get benefits from. He states that many of us ignore when unfairly things are happing around us and we don’t do anything about it. People know the word integrity but don’t really show action. we live in a society full of cheating and lies. If integrity has an opposite, perhaps it is corruption-the getting away with the thing we know to be wrong. We say that we are a nation that demands integrity but are we really? We call ourselves a nation of law, but millions of us cheat on our taxes. We seem not to believe in the integrity of our commitments, with half of the marriages ending in divorce. We say we want integrity in our politics and our politicians promise it endlessly. After reading these quote I don’t believe that integrity exists in our generation today. It is a trend, and people always follow what society sees as acceptable. Carter held a university commencement to talk about the word integrity to the people. They seemed very excited to hear the word integrity. That’s how desperate they were for the topic. As Carter talked the word integrity, he gave examples of how the supreme court uses as a constitution’s structural integrity. Also, he mentioned our ages, languages, religious traditions, and schools for our children.
