Homelessness has become a major occurrence around the world. Due to the many impacts of life people in today’s world have become subject to living on the streets. Many people are destitute and are unable to pay bills and feed addictions which leads to them picking their addictions and losing their homes. Many jobs were lost in the recession and some have never recovered from that loss. Abusive relationships appear more often and leave the victim homeless in order to become safe. Often people are also affected by alcoholism and poverty makes them choose their own priorities. Poverty is shown to be the root problem and cause of homelessness most likely leading to these issues.

In an article by the Washington Spectator, ideas are shown that the lack of jobs, affordable housing and services for the mentally ill have left society’s poorest members with no place to go (Washington Spectator).The homeless have been ignored by the growing number of Americans who are beneficiaries of the booming economy and who tend to view drifters on the street with disgust or indifference. Homelessness today has now become worse than the Depression. All factors lead to 730,000 people in the U.S. that have no job and a lack of income to support themselves or their families. With many looking for new opportunities who are we as people to prevent them and scrutinize them as humans while they are looking to better themselves.
An opposing point of view states that homeless advocates have exaggerated the severity of homelessness. C.J. Carnacchio writes that the group of homeless people who are victims of forces out of their control continue to be very small. Liberals and advocates have succeeded in manufacturing this so called crisis not only by exaggerating numbers but also by distorting the truth about the roots of homelessness (Carnacchio).
