The narrator does suggest though that one person would believe these events from the past could happen in the future, that person would be her grandfather. This is seen in the text by the narrator saying “ but if old Grandpa weren’t dead, he would tell them what happened— he would laugh and say, “ stolen by a ka’tsina, a mountain spirit”” (Silko 576). This line really adds to the readers understanding of how this event happened in the past. The narrator’s grandfather had lived in a time where these stories likely had occurred and woman had gone missing for several days and came back. Honestly, I dont believe in scay stories, but some of them can be really scary at times. Ghost strories like the ones in Illinois, England, and Louisiana might make you sleep with you light on at night. Many differnet variety of events and the sound of boisterous noises have been experienced in the haunted McPike Mansion in Alton, Illinois. A while family has been brutely murdered by someone and there was very litle evidence to be discovered in the case. Fear of forests is very common among all human beings not only in the past, but also nowadays. First of all, it is dangerous in dark forests because there might be very dangerous animals inside. For example, wild boars and bears always appear in the forest. Sometimes they are so strong that several hunters can’t take one down. It seems to be an impossible mission for a man to go into a huge forest alone without being armed. That is why people are afraid. Secondly, people still regard forests as a place for mysterious and frightening things in lots of stories, books and movies. Those terrible pictures might resonate deeply in people’s minds, which frighten them more when they are actually in that kind of situation by themselves. Thirdly, some people that are afraid of going into dark places in forests might be because of their physical reaction. In psychology, these symptoms are called hylophobia or nyctohylophobia.
To start this experience, I must admit that I have always been afraid of the dark. Ever since I was little the thought of being alone at night scared me, and it resulted in the purchase of many night lights. Now, obviously, I don't sleep with them anymore.
