In the 1500s, an Italian man named Niccolo Machiavelli wrote a book called The Prince. This book consisted of guidelines that one could use in order to become a great leader. Machiavelli wrote The Prince as a gift to the Magnificent Lorenzo who was the son of Piero di Cosimo de’ Medici. The Medici family ruled over Florence for many decades; however, when they were in exile, Machiavelli was a diplomat for Italy’s Florentine Republic. During the 16th Century, when Machiavelli wrote The Prince, no one could foresee that his ideas would be used well into the 1900s, and many of these people did not even give the book a second look because it was a work of satire and went against the Church; however, powerful leaders such as Adolf Hitler used
