Ever since World War I, Germany was not on a friendly terms with Russia. Germany hated the Soviet Union and despised communists. This very hate for communism was what allowed Hitler to promote his Enabling Act providing unlimited power and creating a totalitarian state. Germany had previously suffered from various terrorist attacks and the infamous alleged communist attack on the Reichstag building. While the true motivations and attackers remain debatable, this attack on the Reichstag building caused Germany (and Hitler) to take action against the communist.
Hitler's main war aim was to create "lebensraum" or in other words living space for the expansion of Germany. The need for "lebensraum" was described by him in his book "Mein Kampf" (My Struggle)published in the 1920's. Hitler believed that the place for this expansion was to the East of Germany. For this reason he invaded Poland in 1939. The attack on Poland was a clear sign of aggression, Britain and France could no longer ignore Germany and declared war against Germany. Germany with it's new tactic Blitzkrieg outmatched that of France and Britain's. Soon France was defeated and Britain was forced back to the other side of the English Channel. Much of Western Europe was now under control of Nazi Germany and it was time to take the West.
Germany had a Non-Aggression Pact with the Soviet Union. This gave Stalin a sense of security. Hitler knowing that the peace between Russia and Germany would be difficult to maintain. Soon,Hitler launched operation Barbarossa for the following reasons.
*Hitler have always hated the Soviet Russia because of their communist ideology.
*Hitler believed the Russian population were inferior and therefore should be exterminated.
*Hitler, bein...

...US mobilized 16.4 million men and women.
The US and British empire forces dropped 2.7 million tons of bombs in nazi Europe. The Red Army fired about 10 million tons of ammunition in the war.
The Soviets lost 90.000 combat aircraft, the US made 200.000 (45% of the American production).
The Soviets lost 218 thousand artillery pieces, the US produced 512 thousand guns between 1941 and 1944.
In the eastern front, the Germans lost 5.4 million men between 1941 and 1944, in the western front, in 1944, they lost 400.000 men. For the same period (06/1944-12/1944), the Soviets inflicted 1.25 million casualties on the germans.” quoted Guaporense
As seen from the statistics above, the Soviet contributed tons toward the second World War. Germany was doomed from the start but without the Soviet intervention, the allies would have taken a lot longer to defeat Germany.
Germany, Hitler in specific, was one of the leading reasons as to why the world plunged into World War II. Hitler was allowed to take control over Czechoslovakia by Britain, France, and Italy to keep him
Did you know that over 830,000 Germans died during Operation Barbarossa? Operation Barbarossa was the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union enacted by Hitler and carried out by Nazi troops. But the Nazis were not the only ones who suffered colossal losses. The soviets had over 4,000,000 military casualties, but somehow, the U.S.S.R. defeated the Germans and was able to shove them out of their land. This defeat definitely had a major effect on WWII’s outcome due to the massive Nazi force that was allotted to Operation Barbarossa and their failure to take command of the U.S.S.R. The key points of Operation Barbarossa were who planned it, why they planned it, the events that had major effects on the war, and Germany’s failure.
Russia entered the war when Nazi Germany executed Operation Barbarossa. They missed their start date by 3 months and that would lead to one of the many problems Nazi Germany faced during the war on the Eastern front. Russia delivered Germany their biggest defeats including The Battle of Stalingrad and the battle of Kursk. Without these two battles Germany would not have had the significant personnel and supplies lost they faced for the final 3 years of the war.
The Great War, now known as World War II, devastated Europe, leaving political and economic instability in Germany to aid the rise to power of Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist (Nazi) Party. World War II began when Hitler invaded Poland on the 17 September 1939. The war lasted from 1939 to 1945 and directly involved over 100 million people. With an estimated death toll of 75 million, World War II is the deadliest conflict in history. Although there can be no definite turning point, many historians consider the Battle of Stalingrad to be the greatest and most significant battle in the war. The Soviet Union’s massive success in this battle marked the war turning in favor of the Allies.
Hitler’s personal drive to expand Germany’s borders across Europe while putting dominance on what he determined to be ‘inferior people’ was the main contributing cause of World War II. In my opinion, All four parts of MAIN were very involved in contributing to the cause of World War II. Hitler used military might to conquer and divide Poland with the Soviet Union. This caused Western allied retaliation towards Germany. He also used military power and intimidation to accomplish his goal of Germany’s expansion. Hitler allied Germany with Italy and Japan by the sharing in the common goal of conquering other nations. Hitler’s imperialist drive continued further in the breaking of his alliance with Stalin. This resulted in sending German forces to conquer the Soviet Union to capture more land for Germany. With Germany, Italy, and Japan, Hitler created an intimidating alliance of imperialist powers that called for an immediate unity of western nations ready for military retaliation. German Imperialism on Europe is the main reason for allied retaliation. Hitler’s nationalist ideas were used as reasons by him to stretch out his land. Out of each part of MAIN, militarism is proven to be the most important contributing cause.
World War II was one of the greatest wars in our history. Richard Overy wrote Why the Allies Won to explain his taking of how this happened. Why the Allies Won is about how Germany was in almost full control of Europe and Germany felt like they should start moving into the Middle East. Germany and Japan had felt since they took over large lands in 1942, they should try to take over the rest of the world. This caused the Second World War. The other countries were not going to let Germany and Japan take over without a fight. The Allies, the Soviet Union, the United States and Britain, was one of the most powerful alliances there was. They had the resources and the power they needed. They also had the technology to help them conquer. Germany did not expect the Allies to be so powerful. The economics within the countries had also been a factor.
The role of America at the end of World War II was where the origins of policing the world originate. America had been engaged in a very costly war in terms of dollars as well as lives. But, despite the expense the United States came out of World War II better than any other nation that was involved. The Second World War was a battle between the Allied and Axis Powers. The Allied Powers consisted of the United States, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, China, and France. This war was seen as the fight against Nazi Germany, and therefore resulted in a majority of the battles fought on German and Russian soil. The aftermath left the Soviet Union in bad shape. Close to twenty million Russians had died fighting the war, which accounted for about eight percent of their population. Conversely, none of the fighting was done on American soil, and while the United States suffered in terms of casualties it was nothing compared to the loss Russia had endured. Because the war would not end until the Axis Powers fully surrendered to the Allied Powers, the United States was forced to use the first atomic warfare in history. The atom bomb would later serve as America's greatest possession.

World War II was seen around the globe as a war to end all wars. Combat like this had never been experienced before and it was the largest scale battle in recent history. The death tolls for all sides skyrocketed to heights that had never been reached in any battle ever before. There was one man at the center of it all, one man who came to personify the root of living, breathing evil. That man was Adolf Hitler and to the rest of the world, he was a superhuman military machine who had no other goal but to achieve world domination through destruction. But the roots of the Battle of Stalingrad all began in 1941 when Hitler launched operation Barbarossa. Hitler’s powerful army marched across the east, seemingly unstoppable to any force. Stalin’s Red Army was caught completely off guard and their lines were completely broken apart. A majority of the country’s air force was destroyed when airfields were raided and many of the planes never even got the chance to leave the ground. Hitler’s army finally came to Leningrad where the city was besieged. The city held for 900 days and never gave way to the relentless Germans. At the cost of 1.5 million civilians and soldiers, the Red Army stopped Hitler from advancing further and postponed his plan to sweep over the south. Another cause for the retreat of Hitler was the brutal Russian winter, which Hitler and his army were completely unprepared for and the icy cold deaths would continue to haunt the Germans.
World War II happened for many reasons, which there is most likely no way anyone could have stopped it from eventually happening. By using appeasement in the beginning, were just giving Hitler exactly what he wanted which was not good at all.But by Collective Security, Europe finally did what was needed to be done to gain back the power that they had just given away.Collective Security is more effective response to aggression because it doesn't let the aggressor get what he wants and to gain too much power over everyone.
The second World War began when Germany invaded Portland. Adolf Hitler, the dictator of Germany, had two main goals. His first goal was to obtain enough living space. The second plan was to eliminate those who weren’t part of Hitler’s idea of a perfect race.
..., let him get away with it! Later on, once Hitler had more power and control over things, he decided to invade Poland in search of more Jews, but luckily France and Britain had heard of Hitler’s rampage and decided to put an end to it by waging war on Germany two days after the invasion started. This little war started a large-scale world war that would from then on known as the largest armed conflict between countries in history.
“They demanded that citizens of non-German or Jewish origin be deprived of German citizenship, and they called for the cancellation of the Treaty of Versailles” (Hoffmann). Soon the NSDAP had tons of members. They attacked the government and stated that they, The Nazi Party, could get Germany’s economy up and moving again and make Germany great again. This attempt became known as the Beer Hall Putsch, it failed and Hitler was sent to prison. “His prison stay was more like a house arrest and became a media event that, incredibly, earned him the sympathy of the masses” (Wein). While Hitler was in prison he wrote his book called Mein Kampf. In his book he wrote about things that he believed and his great plans for Germany. Some of which were: his plan to conquer much of Europe, territories lost in World War I would be recovered, along with Austria and parts of Czechoslovakia, basically wherever Germans lived would be added to the nation of Germany. The growing German nation would seize Lebensraum , a living space, from Poland, the Soviet Union, and other countries to the east. He also wrote about the Jews and all the bad they caused in the world. “He said: "By defending myself against the Jews, I am doing the Lord 's work." Democracy, said Hitler, could lead only to Communism. A dictatorship was the only way to save Germany from
