The Fascinations of Art The earth without art would be lifeless. We would just live in a world where everything would be black and white, with no movement, no texture, and no culture. Art is used all over the world to tell stories of people’s pasts and futures. It allows people to have a voice of their own that can tell the world what they feel without saying a word. It’s hard to think of a society without artists who want to bring life into this stale world of ours. Painting is a remunerative career which has an appealing and breathtaking history, provides a growing education and training, and benefits security through a positive career. A painter is someone who allows himself/herself to create art by using a vast amount of mediums. A person doesn’t necessary have to have a college degree in order to become a painter. Although he or she would mostly have an advantage if the art career doesn’t necessary suits their expectations. A painter works to produce high quality art. Painters may begin as illustrators and eventually develop into selling their paintings. Before selling, they usually have an exhibition where people can see their work. Painters work in studios of different forms. The studious may be located in one’s own garage, house, office building or by a beautiful landscape. A painter works with “water color, acrylics, oil, egg temporary collage, and some exotic combinations (Brommer 156)”. There is a variety of media that one can use to create art. Painters “work with models, still-life, animals, or flowers” as their muse (156). Basically, one can use absolutely anything as their muse. For example, one can look at the sky, statues, or even get the idea from their own mind. According to Webster’s Dictionary, art is “human expression of objects by painting, etc” (10). The words “human experience” adds meaning to art. Artists reveal their inner thoughts and feelings through their work. When we study a painting by Salvador Dali, the strange objects and the surrealist background portrays the eccentricity of the painter. Some ideas cannot be explained verbally. They can only be shown via a medium. We can get across what is in our minds or our hearts by a stroke of a brush, a drop of paint, a row of words, or something else. But to express ourselves, we do not need to limit what we call art.
For those people who do not know much about art, they wouldn't know the meaning of the painting or how it was created. In some instances people say to themselves, "you call this art, my little brother could paint that. " That is because they are locked into what they either see on television or learn in school. People should go beyond this limitation. People need to open their minds and hearts to accept all kinds of styles and types of paintings.
It is art fulfilling its role in society. It is art that brings the moral issues. It is art that makes us human.

If I were to ask you what is art, and how can one find it? What would you say? Well if it were me being asked those question, I would simply say that art to me is a form of a picture; a visual painting or model of some design and it could be found all among us. You may define it differently only because art could be defined in many ways. I could simply say that art to me is a form of a picture; a visual painting or model of some design. Well according to an article written by Shelley Esaak, an art history expert she mentioned that art has a way of stimulating different parts of our brains to make us laugh or incite us to riot, with a whole gamut of emotions in between. There are many positive aspects associated with the arts and it is important people are aware of these benefits. According to Smithrim and Opitis, “reported benefits of the arts include the development of the imagination (Greene, 1995), greater motivation to learn (Csikszentmihalyi, 1997), increased student creativity, lower dropout rates, and increased social skills (Catterall, 1998; Luftig, 1995)” (110). These advantages can possibly set a student up for am extremely successful life. They should be embraced and utilized as opposed to overlooked and unmentioned.

The unique purpose of art is to provide an exhilarating touch of love, sorrow, warmth, depth, and happiness to the soul and heart. The value of art, both personal and monetary; the hard work of great art is very self- rewarding and gives a great sense of accomplishment. Anyone can decide what art is as long as it communicates an idea and is an original piece.
Firstly, it enhances students creativity by allowing them to make a self-expression. In most art programms, students are asked to create a painting that represents memory or compose a new rhythm for a piece of music. When students are taught to think creatively, it helps them in their future career. Secondly, the arts improve academic performance, students who are regularly participate in the arts does better in their academic achievement. Thirdly, it develops the students fine motor skills when they hold an instrument such as a paintbrush or oil pastel. Fourthly, while mastering a subject, students build self-confidence. Fifthly, the arts help students to develop their visual-spatial skills. Students need to know more about their sorroundings through visual than just what they can learn through text and numbers. Art education teaches students to appreciate, criticize or interpret by using the visual information. Sixthly, the arts strengthens problem solving and critical thinking skills by allowing the students to make choices and decisions. This is certainly allows them to carry over into their education and other parts of life—as this is surely a valuable skill in their adulthood.
