The game of baseball was invented between 1861 and 1865 which was before the American Civil War. Many of the people that know of the game of baseball reference as the “National Past Time”. Many people played baseball or even played the cousin sport called softball. Unlike basketball and football- baseball can be played well by an average height and weight person. Baseball came of age in the 1920s when Babe Ruth who passed away in 1948 came into the spotlight and led the power house New York Yankees to several World Series titles.

On June 19. 1846 the Knickerbockers played the first known organized baseball game in a 23 to 1 loss to the New York Base Ball Club on Elysian Fields in Hoboken, New Jersey.
