DIFFERENCES
Augmented reality differs from virtual reality because it turns an existing environment into a 3D digital interface when a camera on a smartphone or tablet hovers over a still image and the user has the ability to interact with it.
Whereas with virtual reality, digital worlds are imagined through a mounted headset from a computer-generated simulation of a real-life environment or situation.

Virtual reality is not new. It was first invented by a cinematographer, Morton Heilig in 1957.

Instead of just relying on the menu description to make your decision, you will be able to view what each dish looks like through a camera app on a mobile device or tablet from pointing it at the menu. This will create a virtual image of each menu item’s ingredients, correct portion size so you are not going home with leftovers, and complimentary side suggestions of appetizers, drinks and dessert with your main course helping you decide something off the menu you think you would love to eat instead of relying on your imagination.

Augmented Reality is evolving fast and is set to change our lives. There are approximately 8,000 apps in the iOS App Store and 9,000 apps in the Google Play Store generating over $1.5 billion in revenue of downloads per year. It is clear how far the development of augmented reality has grown creating an immersive and engaging world around us through live digital images to engage consumers on another level to be part of an experience of how we will work, live, and play.
