Introduction
Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) also referred as IP Telephony is a technology that is used as the transmission medium for Voice calls over the computer network.This is evolved from “Digital Signal Processing” which converts the voice signal from your telephone into a digital signal that travels over the internet. VOIP is attracting a lot of attention today. There are many reasons for this like VOIP seeks to deliver many business benefits for example,integrating voice in data communications, and it is much more flexible.
History
Traditional phone lines are slowly being expelled from the communications market with the growing new technologies. The actual transmission was taken place in 1973 as a result of the Protocol invented for the ARPANET, while origin of VOIP is first announced in 1995 by an Israel company called Vocaltech which allows users to call via computers. This product works only when if both sender and receiver had the same software setup.
Present
Over the last 14 years the process of VOIP showed a tremendous increase in the telephony world. Early suppliers of voice over IP administrations offered plans of action and specialized results that reflected the structural planning of the legacy phone system. Second-era suppliers, for example, Skype, have manufactured shut systems for private client bases, offering the profit of free calls and accommodation while possibly charging for access to other correspondence systems, for example, the PSTN.
