The concept of animation has been around for many years, dating back to the 17th century, when the first moving images were created using a lantern. Since then, the world has seen animation in many forms, such as the flip book, stop motion, hand drawn and more recently, computer generated animation. The first animated feature film is considered to be Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which was released in 1937 and saw great success. This release was very important for the animated film industry, because it introduced the concept of telling stories through animation to a wider audience, and it made Walt Disney a household name. Disney later released a number of big animated films, and in 2006 it acquired Pixar, which was the company that revolutionised the film industry with its groundbreaking CGI animation. Just like Disney did with hand drawn animation five decades prior.

This was something that was simply not possible with hand-drawn animation. This is where CG animation really showed its potential to change the industry. The plot of the film followed the toys of Andy, through their adventures of accepting the new toy in their group. The main conflict was between Woody, the beloved cowboy, and Buzz Lightyear, the newcomer that is more modern and appealing to Andy. The film contains a lot of natural movement and action scenes that give more life to the characters and create a more immersive watching experience.
