What is the game of Baseball? Let me tell you. Baseball is a bat-and-ball game between two teams of nine players each. Both teams take turns between batting and fielding in a nine-inning game of 3 outs each. To score a run, you must reach from the batters box, to first base, second base, third base, and lastly back to home plate. Unlike most sports, baseball has no time limit. The excitement of an extra inning ball game is second to none.

Baseball is a game that ignites the senses, sights, smells, sounds, touch and even taste. It is not only for the players, but the fans. It’s very cruel to some, and very giving to others. It is the difference between your favorite team winning, or losing game 7 of the World Series and bringing home the trophy and title of World Champions. The strong feelings and passionate emotions the game gives us are one of many reasons why it brings us all together.
Baseball is summer. It is the joy of school being dismissed for months. It is trading cards for your favorite player and playing complicated board games with your friends and family. It educates a young boy to learn the ins and outs of mathematics in decimal points and percentages. It is it’s own language and a way of life. Numbers, numbers, numbers. Baseball is a game of inches and is as precise as it gets.
Baseball has been providing us with fun and excitement for more than a hundred and fifty years. It is a reason to stay up past bed time, bonding with your father. It is walking into the stadium for the first time. It is all of the lights, sounds, and the smells around you.
