On March 9th Northeast Tarrant County College music department performed a diverse concert called "Music through the Centuries." The concert was displayed in four different areas where you travel through and hear important pieces from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras, along with Big Band Jazz. Each performance area had its own string of vocal and instrumental variations from that specific time period. The concert consisted of fourteen different performances throughout the centuries. “Allemande,” “Duet with Two Obbligato Eyeglasses,” “Waltz, Op. 64, No. 1” and “La Suerte De Los Tontos” were three enlightening pieces that allowed the audience to better understand music written in those eras.
The first title “Allemande” was written by John Dowland. It was played graciously by a guitar, but originally played on a lute. The song had a melancholy style with a moderate tempo using duple meter. The piece itself has a nice playfulness to it, varying between soft and assertive tones.
