“The problem with extracting political meaning from literary sources may lie in close readings that are not sufficiently anchored in the surrounding historical context” (Prior). Britain is filled was filled with social hierarchy, changing throughout time. The literature that has been written in the country has been based on which social class you have come out of. Being from a different social classes give you a different view on how things really are around you. When situations are different around you, you write in various ways, expressing different perspectives. Going back through time, using a historical criticism and social class lens, there is going to be a lot of change.
