The certain attractions hip hop music that is fed to young people of this generation is dangerous. Over the years, hip hop music has been feeding young people music that is negative but is listened to in a positive way. The young people who listen to this music are encouraged by the lyrics of to inflict violence towards a woman. Sexism in hip hop music and videos exploit women to where the young people are more likely to disrespect them. When it comes to wealth respect and success plays a major role in hip hop music for a male dominated music industry. As hip hop feeds young people their music in a negative way, their more encouraged to the violence towards women, sexism, and wealth that tempts them every day.

Women are objectified in hip hop music videos as to wearing skimpy clothing, speaking seductively and dancing in a sexual manner. They are simply eye candy for the audience to gain attention as they are define as sexual objects and have no kind of independence. For example, Nelly’s Tip Drill became a controversial music video that displayed women in a degrading way. The women were wearing thong bikinis, just thongs, or were topless dancing provocatively against men or women as well. The type of message that it gives the young people, males of course, that you can have woman you want since they’ll do anything for you. From a female’s perspective who would have low self-esteem, she would take the message as to exploiting herself as the women in the music video and eventually received attention from men. Now if you reverse the roles of sexism in hip hop music, a female rapper would consider themselves as a “hip hop feminists,” to show men that they should be respected and not be degraded and submissive. For example, Queen Latifah, a hip hop artist, created Ladies First, a song that empowered women especially female rappers to let men know that they can be a successful in a male dominated genre.
