I Think It Should be a Requirement High School is an important part of one's life. It sets each and every student up for the future, their future. Every student knows this is the main reason why we are here but also to learn the basics of studying, working hard, and being able to be attentive. These are all skills that we need to apply for the future. Teachers tell us that they are preparing us for the difficulties that come along with going to college. Most students need to go to college in order to make a good amount of money. There aren't many entry level jobs that pay well without going to college. This brings us to the application portion of college and jobs. No matter what job or school you are applying to, community service will always look great on your application. She brings up the point that making a selfless act a requirement for graduating negates the spirit of volunteerism itself. She also says that the student will not feel the satisfaction of having spent time charitably. I completely respect these two viewpoints but I will have to disagree. First of all, you cannot remove the aspect of helping out the community by making it a requirement. It is a choice to not enjoy it if it's a requirement or you can feel that satisfaction if you choose. I got my job done in a couple weeks with the satisfaction of accomplishment as well as feeling like I've made someone else's life easier. Doing things that are selfless such as community service can make you feel great on the inside. It is a choice to not feel this way. You don't want to live your life with a mindset of “I just have to get this done”. Even if you have to why not take them time to enjoy it? You can't go on with your life thinking about the hardships of it, you've got to enjoy it. As far as we know, we only have one
The effect community service has on both the school and the student are, in most cases, negative, strictly because of the ‘forced’ aspect of it. Students should not have to feel enslaved when trying to pass high school, especially since many other school districts do not have a
If schools wanted to encourage community service then they shouldn’t force students to do it. Schools should let students know about volunteering opportunities and possibly let them sign up for the school so that it is easier for them to do so if they want
For the longest time I could not decide on a major and a career to study throughout college. When I came to Georgia Southern University I discovered that they had a major that was very interesting to me. Sport Management id the ideal major for my interest and me. Since I love sports I figured that this would be the career for me. A degree in Sport Management helps to prepare for success in sport related occupations.
Imagine a typical teen, they have a job, homework, sports, and other extracurriculars. They don’t get home till late at night and they are exhausted. This teen can take much more and thankfully they are about to graduate, but wait the school wants them to fit in one hundred of community service into that schedule in order to graduate. How on earth is this busey teen suppose to do that with all that they have going on? Students should not have to do one hundred hours of community service to graduate high school.

Ever wonder why you didn’t get that job you wanted? How would you feel if you knew a recent high school graduate got that job because they were more qualified than you? High schoolers that do community service, that is required to graduate, are becoming more certified for jobs because they get all kinds of different experiences. From volunteering at the local gardens, giving service to the elderly and cleaning up the streets, they get to serve and put their time into the community.
Throughout their careers, students are asked to complete a variety of tasks. These tasks can vary from homework, to studying for the SAT, being involved in a sport, and participating in community service. The predicament comes into action when administrative faculty are left with the question of whether or not this service should be required to graduate. Although many may argue otherwise, it is clear that community service should be required because it encourages the progress of students at school, gives them exposure to the world, and provides students with knowledge that is inaccessible at school.
Community service is a common service for people to take care of each other and volunteer. People apply to different community services: soup kitchen, taking care of children and homeless people, clinics, churches, schools, neighbor's house and many countless places to volunteer. Some people really enjoy to work at community services while others do not. These community services can be a punishment for criminals because a court assigns them to do so. However, some people do not agree with community service supporters. While some people believe that there should be a community service requirement for high school and college graduation because students need to learn and have experiences there, they are right; on the other hand, a community service requirement should be allowed for two reasons and not be allowed for another three reasons.

Although community serviced is beneficial is beneficial for a teenager's development of both character and academic, but when community services become required or mandatory, the original purpose of community services is being altered and have a more negative effect than positive on the students. Resume padding is very prevalent in college-bound student who volunteers, some of the students are not willingly to volunteer but rather being "forced" to volunteer to increase their acceptance rate into particular colleges. Mandatory volunteerism might also have negative effects on students' intentions to volunteer freely in the future. Furthermore, through statistics of numerous researches, most students currently in school do not support mandatory volunteer.
There should be a minimum age for allowing employment! We need a minimum working age of 18 to keep kids from taking away job opportunities from people that need to support a family. Kids these days are seen to be working casual or part time jobs a lot more, but what is happening to the older generation? They have been left out like love stock in a pack of predators with no support. This is all due to no minimum working age that is in South Australia which relates to how bad the pay rate is that benefits only the bigger companies.
Raising community awareness to students will teach them the importance of being involved in the community. Students being able to give back to the community will prepare them for their journey to being a positive role model or servant leader.
Contrary to this opposing view, helping others is the best feeling that one could ever have. What is a volunteer? Volunteer: a person who does work without getting paid to do it (Merriam, Webster). The act of volunteering gives people a sense of responsibility and makes one feel needed and useful to society one way or another. Students should be obligated to give back to their communities through acts of community service. It should be viewed from the perspective of paying their dues back to the community, after all the education of these students is free and it is the community that pays for it. Community service should be a mandatory high school graduation requirement because it builds ones character, limits the rate of teenage delinquency, and establishes a path for a better future as an individual.
