Hieroglyphics were a form of writing used by Egyptians in which writing would be carved on temple walls and public monuments in the form of pictures, symbols, or signs. Runes is an alphabet with 24-33 letters that can be carved on stones (Britannica).

As discussed by the Wikipedia article Iliad, set during the Trojan War, The Iliad tells a story about the battles and events during a clash between King Agamemnon and the powerful warrior Achilles. The main characters include King Agamemnon, Achilles, Patroclus, and Odysseus. The Achaeans (also called Hellenes) and Trojans are the countries waging war in this epic. The Iliad does not actually say who won the war, it simply ends with the death of an Achaean (Yahoo), but it is known that Troy was eventually sacked and Achilles killed.
