Reason Case was accepted for Investigation: On 4/2/2018, Hennepin County Child Protection accepted a report alleged neglect, failure to ensure education for Salmo by her parents Sharifo Hirisi and Mohamud Nuur. Per reporter on March 30, 2018 concerns were made for Salmo who resides with a relative, Khadra Hassan. Per reporter Salmo has a total of 11 full day unexcused absences. Per reporter an attendance of principal letter was sent out on 1/30/2018. Outcome of Assessment: This writer met with Ms. Sharifo Hirsi at people serving people shelter. Ms. Hirsi reported that she was discharged from the hospital a month ago and has been taking care of her three children. She reported that she was in hospital for about 5 to 6 months due to mental health concerns. She reported that she was diagnosed with Bipolar and was put on a medication to manage it. This worker asked about the allegation. Ms. Hirsi reported that the past 6 months she was hospitalized in Fairview and unaware of her children's situation in school. She reported that her ex-husband was taken care of all three children while she was in patient at hospital. They all appeared healthy and active. They were all distracted with their electronics during the meeting. They all spoke less. Salmo stated that she goes to Andersen Community School and stays home when she is feeling sick. She reported that she is in 1st grade. She stated that she takes the bus to school and reported no concerns with home and school. Salmo spoke little and appeared to have some difficulties with her speech. Mukhtaar is not school age yet and stays home with his mother. Ms. Hirsi stated that her daughter was diagnosed with autism and involved with IEP at school. Ms. Hirsi reported no other concerns with school and
