People always wonder why they need the internet. they ask “why do I need to know how to use a computer and surf the web?” Well let me tell you.
Knowing how to use a computer is becoming more and more important every day. Jobs for an example is a big point. Some jobs only have their applications online, so how would you find and fill out their application if you don't even know how to use a computer?
There are lots of senior citizens out there in the world that are clueless with the internet and even more clueless about a computer. Some senior citizens don't even know how to plug in a computer because when they where little they had to do everything in person. Not saying that it was a bad thing that they did but its more time consuming.
My goal of a senior project is to teach them seniors how to use the computer. I wanna show them how to turn on the computer, use mouse and keyboard, and most importantly how to use the internet/surf the web. I want to show them how important it is to use the internet. They could use it so much in their lives. if they need to order more stuff from a store they could easily look it up on the internet and get it shipped straight to there house. this way they don't have to get in a car and drive.
The first thing I am going to show them how to do is turn on the computer. This is the most important because how else will they surf the web if they don't know how to turn on the computer. Then I was planning on teaching them how to create their user. this is so they can have there own personal use that they can log on to and save their stuff to on the desktop. Next I want to show them how to create a Email address and Email people. I believe a email adress is very important because it will allow them to com...

I am very excited and happy with my project assignment. I know most of the seniors at the center cant wait till they learn new things. I just can not wait till I teach them all I can. I want this project to continue even after I finish my project. I am excited and want to see people stand up and help their community.
This essay will consist of different sources that explain the inappropriate behaviour an emergency Nurse’s response at handover due to a male patient who has been admitted into the Emergency Department in a dishevelled state. As a Registered Nurse assigned to care for this patient when handing over the patient’s care to another Registered Nurse, the nurse responds in an inappropriate manner; stating, ‘I really hate looking after old people – they’re all senile and they smell’. This essay will analyse the attitudes of the nurse and the beliefs that support such comments are improper thus leaving a significant impact on the performance and the nursing care for this patient.
There are changes in the demographic as the population grows older, the number of older adult’s increases and thus, there is an increase of proportion of patients that are older adults for nurses to take care of (Wells, Y., Foreman, P., Gething, L., & Petralia, W., 2004). The nurses are there to assist and support the older adults in achieving wellness within their situation through empowering the clients (Touhy, et al (2012). Caring for older adults is important as there is an increase in population with deteriorating health. When caring for a client it is important to incorporate Jean Watson’s caring theories and Carative Factors to help influence and support the care. She encourages nurses to co-participate within the caring process by establishing unity and trust between the nurse and client. First, this paper will explain a situation in where I cared for an older adult and it will then introduce Jean Watson’s lower order needs, specifically the need for activity and how it relates to the older adult I cared for. Lastly, this paper will explain the nursing interventions I implemented to meet the lower order need, with a discussion of Carative Factor #4 relating to the client.
I ambitiously decided that I would brighten the lives of the elderly by volunteering at a rest home, but discovered that the elderly were being neglected, shoved aside and forgotten. As I stepped into the home a pungent odor penetrated my nostrils, causing an instantaneous gagging reflex. The place was abounded with neglected and subdued inhabitants, yearning for attention. Anybody that passed them caused a sudden outburst of ranting. The negligence and disregard the home displayed appalled me, but helped me to realize that I wanted to make a difference and change the condition people live in.
The reason I chose to work on senior citizen issue, because my grandmother is living by herself on social security benefit. While I was talking with her, I found she doesn’t need only money to live, but she needs help on house keeping issues like maintenance, and especially a need of someone who visits her once a while. If my grandmother felt this way, I guess there are many seniors in Atlanta, who might share the same feelings. There are many organizations currently active in and around metro Atlanta to look after seniors, but success is a little. There is a constant need of volunteers who dedicate their time and efforts in helping seniors, doing maintenance work, and delivering foods on festivals like Thanksgiving and Christmas as we...
In our modern society, technology has impacted out lives in almost every aspect imaginable. Our life style has become one of the new eras, dealing substantially with strands of new technology each day. Today, many households contain at least one personal computer. The simplest things have all changed in account of newer, better, faster, and more efficient forms of advanced technology. A primary focus can be taken alone on the impact computers have had in our changing world. To narrow the scope further, I have analyzed the impact that the Internet has had upon people, and their lives.
The world’s technology advancements are quickly developing, thus, unquestionably, contributing to the extraordinary benefits obtained by students, parents, and educators. Students are provided an enhanced understanding of diverse subjects due to presentations, use of the Internet, and various programs, assisting them with projects, homework, tests, or merely general interest. Classroom computer use is certainly beneficial to parents as well. If a student does not have computer access at home to complete a project or essay, it could easily be completed on the classroom’s computer. This avoids any conflicts that may arise from families that do not have access to a personal computer. Teachers are able to easily compose a multimedia presentation to, not only help teach the class, but also to assist the pupils while taking notes and ensuring their understanding of the topic.
Computers can only make knowledge acquisition more interesting or less expensive or both. This is why the student who canπt afford to go to college can take some courses from home. Also, many people simply canπt learn in a classroom environment. Using the web gives the learner a change of pace that makes learning fun. Many forty to fifty years olds may feel very uncomfortable walking around on a college campus. They may be seeking career changes and the Internet allows for the anonymity that is not available anywhere else. Web based learning does not have to take place solely on a college campus. Many elementary and secondary school teachers may assign web projects because äsince its ease of use makes the Internet trivially accessible to pupils with no prior knowledge of computers, programming or even networking, making it more tempting for teachers to take advantage of it. My teachers did not utilize the web that often, but when they did, I enjoyed it because it was a change of pace.
Schools need to incorporate technology education into all areas of curriculum. Students need to be able to understand not only the how-to of computers, but they need to understand when to use it, where to use it, and why it should be used. Many students only have a basic working knowledge of computer...
The internet has come along way since its birth back in 1969, from its start as a government network to the everyday life; it has proven to be one of the greatest inventions ever discovered. It has helped many people with an array of task ranging from everyday government usage, and personal web pages to the ever so expanding horizons of technology still being produced today. Between the good and the bad, the internet has improved the way of life, and will continue to improve throughout time.
I used to question the integration of computers in the preschool classrooms. After completing this course, I have learned so much about the benefits of integrating technology as a teaching tool. I am confident to teach technology skills, and to use technology as a tool to help my students become cyber safe and technology skilled. I believe learning technology should be fun, and at the same time rewarding. Because through this course have learned, that there is more about teaching basic technology skills. I have learned that technology can be the best teaching tool.
Using technology in the classroom can also increase parent involvement and encourages communication. The teacher could develop a class web site where students and parents could go to read postings or updates, discussions, ask questions, and find homework assignments. Students can also use computer technology to extend their learning beyond the classroom by connecting with their community, family aboard, other schools, friends and sites from around the globe. Before students can utilize the computers in a school, they should review computer lab rules which include correct lab
By the time a student is in middle school he or she should be able to use software tools such as word processing , data bases, spreadsheets, and telecommunications. But the computer can be used for so much more. The computer can be used as a tutor or for research on any topic. As a tutor, the comput...
As the popularity of the Internet continues to grow at an exponential rate, easy and affordable access is quickly becoming a necessity of life.
Society is currently in a period of rapid technological change. Computers are becoming a household item as well as a highly advanced tool for most every workplace. The entire world is interlinked through the Internet and information is being transferred across the globe in a matter of seconds. Computers are getting smaller and quicker and the amount of information they can store is getting larger. In this information society that we are becoming, a new advanced form of literacy threatens to debilitate anyone who refuses to step into the computer age. Computer illiteracy endangers not only the individual but our nation’s economy. Whether you like it or not, computers are the new language and those who refuse to accept this will be left in the dust . Computer illiteracy must be addressed now or there will be a whole new population of specialized illiterates in America.
The internet is getting bigger and faster everyday, an individual can log on to the internet and buy sell or trade anything, the world wide web can bring the world into your home where anything can be looked up to learn or to amuse. Computer chips are being put in a wide range of things today, from appliances to cell phones to automobiles; an owner can now have their automobile checked for any problems while they are driving down the road via a satellite and find out if they should go in to have it repaired.
