Healthcare is the act of taking preventative or necessary medical procedures to maintain and improve individual’s physical and mental health. These services are typically offered through a health care system made up of hospitals and physicians. In the United States of American a Patient’s Bill of Right was designed in order to guarantee each patients fair healthcare treatment. In additions to this it also protects patients and healthcare workers and allows patients to safely address any issues they are experiencing with the healthcare system. The Patient’s Bill of Right also helps patients establish a strong relationship with their healthcare providers. Establishing this strong relationship helps patients understand their role in the process of staying healthy. While the Patient’s Bill of Right was pass the healthcare system in the United States still remains complex therefore inequality of healthcare is evidenced in a wide-range of medical diagnoses among minorities. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) individuals frequently experience challenges and barriers when accessing health services. These challenges and barriers can result to LGBT individuals experiencing worse health outcomes. LGBT individuals are categories as sexual and gender minorities and although they experience the same health concerns as the general population, they are likely to experience certain health problems at a higher rate than the general population. In additions LGBT individuals also face several unique challenges that contribute to their poor health. The assembly line of procedures could cause the labor and delivery process to become more difficult and painful. In additions to this unnecessary medication are given and can result to women having Cesarean sections. Women are entitled to decline common procedures during hospital birth if they’re not comfortable with them however they are less likely to do so. The documentary relates this action to the fear women have during birth especially when doctors tell them their babies are at risk. Most of the time when the babies are at risk is because of medication such as Epidurals and Pitocin. This healthcare service during labor and delivery in the United States is denying many women the opportunity to have a natural birth. Another thing being denied is the safety of both mother and child.
