Recommended: An analysis of a health promotion intervention

Introduction The health promotion program for Casey community was implemented to reduce and prevent alcohol and drug abuse among teenagers, the main target group. There are several factors which contributed towards alcohol and drug abuse among teenagers. Those factors are ‘macro-environmental issues, socioeconomic gaps, joblessness, social capital, the physical environment and social morals and faith. However, it was noted that the family is an important group who mediates with all the effects ‘(Spooner, Hall and Lynskey 2001, 26). The health practitioners and stake holders were involved in separate ways such as referring them for counselling and education to help teenagers who had problems with alcohol and drug abuse. Specifically, ‘by using the local media to promote healthy activities and services, offering youth activities for example, holiday programs, bringing counselling services to the local area or promote telephone helplines and Promoting job seeker support services’ (Australian Drug Foundation.
