Introduction The health promotion program for Casey community was implemented to reduce and prevent alcohol and drug abuse among teenagers, the main target group. There are several factors which contributed towards alcohol and drug abuse among teenagers. Those factors are ‘macro-environmental issues, socioeconomic gaps, joblessness, social capital, the physical environment and social morals and faith. However, it was noted that the family is an important group who mediates with all the effects ‘(Spooner, Hall and Lynskey 2001, 26). The health practitioners and stake holders were involved in separate ways such as referring them for counselling and education to help teenagers who had problems with alcohol and drug abuse. The schools are a significant place to provide educational information regarding the problems related with drug and alcohol use in younger people. The School based programs should aim to educate and improve skills with decision making, to withdraw the commencement of substance use.
