I was naturally drawn to the Healthcare field since the age of eight. My father has been a Healthcare Administrator for more than 20 years at the government hospital. That passion for healthcare management has been instilled into me since very young age. I used to visit my father in his office and see him help patients with care co-ordination and financial support. The sense of gratitude he had, in helping those patients, propelled me to begin my journey in public health. During one such visit to my father’s hospital, I remember seeing a patient thanking a doctor for saving his life and hailing him as next to God. Knowing what needs to happen next, and how to break big goals down to small, manageable steps can help me break into tremendous new levels of achievements. Five years down the lane, I envision myself as someone with deep expertise in the healthcare sector, working in not for profit healthcare organization. With that experience, I would be able to understand in-depth the issues with healthcare, including healthcare disparities, population health and demographics, the issues that arise in the field and the solutions for the same. The confidence that I shall gain during these five years of experience would give a boost to my decision-making capacity and analytical skills. Having said so, I would be at a much better position with my policy analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and shall be prepared to undertake responsibility and accountability. Ten years from now, I depict myself to be effectively managing a hospital in my country that would provide quality healthcare to all citizens. It is at this point of time that I would be able to integrate, whatever I learned throughout my education and career journey, with my goals and put into effect my visualization of the healthcare sector. It would be my first leap into achieving the best quality healthcare. The course work prepared me to conduct policy analysis addressing current and past health policy issues to describe the key problem under review, identifying relevant background to inform the issue, describing analytical landscape and context in which issue occurs, identifying policy alternatives and recommendation. It prepared me to function at the intersection of clinical care and public health to be effective in reaching across the boundaries along with utilizing healthcare
