Lily Leung once stated, “When in doubt, choose change” (1), which reflected how Canada’s actions in terms of the changes that were happening from the 1960s- 1990s, specifically the medical industry. Prior to World War II, health care in Canada was privately delivered and funded. A universal hospital care plan was being introduced in the 1950s, which signified positive changes among Canadians. The time period between 1960’s to the 1990’s brought numerous significant changes in the medical industry, which was in favour of the majority of Canadians. The dominant changes that Canadian were able to experience, included the access rates for medical care had increased, advancements in research and inventions was coming into play, and Medicare was now being offered. The accessibility rate for medical assistance was rising. Extended care services were provided for Canadians such as nursing homes, convalescent house, which were beginning to be offered to provide long term care for elderly. Further services for those who needed were being addressed, which exhibits the development of concern for Canadians who desperately needed medical services. In 1977, a change in federal funding was introduced, in terms of expansion. The methods presented expansion of hospitals to accustom citizens accordingly by needs. The government intended to expand extended care facilities, making it more accessible for Canadians`. The ongoing expansion shows how the governments concern was increasing regarding services for Canadians, which was desired by Canadians as it gave an opportunity to Canadians to receive the care they required.
