Nowadays, there are still many wars, hunger happen in this world, there are still many people live without enough food and water, there are a huge number of people live in wars. According to Shah’s article, until 2013, there are still more than 660 million people live on less than 2 dollars a day. In the music video of Michael Jackson “Heal the World” has told we a story about this phenomenon. This is a song about children and war. This song was in the album Dangerous and it was released in 1991. Michael Jackson wrote this song for his charity organization which had the same name with this song, it is named “Heal the World Foundation”. The charity organization was hammer at protecting the rights of children. This organization helped millions of children. Therefore, in this music video, it shows us that people who live in and hurts by wars, especially children. This video especially want to show people that how hard those children live. Throughout this whole video, the main characters are children and soldiers, they are both victims of wars.
This video starts with a very soft and a bit sad music, in the beginning of this video, we can see many children lie on bed, these children are injured, and some of them are bound up gauze, therefore we know that there is a hospital. However, the hospital is quite shabby, there are candles on their bedside instead of electric light, so there must be a very poor place. From this scene, we know that these children live in a very difficult condition. Every war will have those who support the war and those who are against the war. In 1965, those who were against the Vietnam War made their views known by many forms of protesting such as forming organizations, rallying, and anti-war protest music. Anti-war protest music was an opportunity to put people’s perspectives into song to hopefully spread their message. Buffy Sainte-Marie wrote the song “Universal Soldier” in 1962 and her message was that “Universal Soldier is about individual responsibility for war and how the old feudal thinking kills us all” (Boulanger). The song “Universal Soldier” was used as a protest anthem during the Vietnam War and attempts to untangle one of the paradoxes of life that war never leads to peace through examining a soldier that is representative of every soldier in every nation.
The purpose of this essay is to inform on the similarities and differences between systemic and domestic causes of war. According to World Politics by Jeffry Frieden, David Lake, and Kenneth Schultz, systemic causes deal with states that are unitary actors and their interactions with one another. It can deal with a state’s position within international organizations and also their relationships with other states. In contract, domestic causes of war pertain specifically to what goes on internally and factors within a state that may lead to war. Wars that occur between two or more states due to systemic and domestic causes are referred to as interstate wars.
The Salvation Army uses the Aristotelian appeals, ethos, logos, and pathos to convince the audience that donating to their company will provide hope to underprivileged people around the world. Utilizing the image of distressed children for provides the use of pathos, logical facts for logos, and their company’s creditability for ethos. Affecting the advertisement the most dramatically, is the idea that donating to the Salvation Army is a way to give hope to individuals who are affected from natural disasters. Visually, a young boy is holding another young boy, who is most likely, his brother in his arms. Covered in dirt and cuts, the boys are also wearing tattered and ripped clothing. In addition the boys have no shoes, showing their damaged dirty feet. A bottle on the side near the boys has dirty water in it, displaying the idea of no clean drinking water. Correspondently, the children are sleeping on dirty stairs showing they are homeless with no food, clean water, and no clean clothing. On the bottom right corner of the ad there is the Salvation Army logo. Near the bottom there is the contact information to donate and learn more about the charity. Similarity, there is also a small memo describing what the donation provides to individuals in natural disasters and what they will receive from the Salvation Army. For example, it provides emotional support and helps the injured and heartbroken people. In bold font “Giving Hope Today”, is written on the advertisement, providing the idea that donation to the Salvation Army is more than just providing necessary support and needs to individuals affected by natural disasters, but it provides hope and a future.

Jezza Neumann wrote the article “America's Poor Kids” in order to acknowledge the fact that one should care for their children. First, Jezza Neumann highlights the shortcomings of families who have known a much better life have to leave their homes, sometimes with just a few days notice. Then, she introduces three children that suffer from a chronically stressed household and ask to give them their point of view. Next, the author points out how these kids should not go through being homeless and it is too stressful for them to develop normally. The econometric model built by Collier and Hoeffler, for instance, provides a fair war measurement by demonstrating opportunity as a source of conflict. It includes predominant variables such as Primary commodity exports, GDP per capita, GDP per growth and population. In most cases, low GDP per capita and slow growth rate increase the risk of war because they provided a low opportunity cost for rebellion. The Lives of Others experimented with the use of sound as an element to convey narrative structure and did so brilliantly. The use of music is an accomplishment which celebrates the arts as an essential part of our human condition. If our right to express ourselves freely is imposed upon, we can no longer communicate our deepest thoughts and no longer discover that we are all united by the same qualities. Our need for love and companionship transcends our political aspirations or ideological shortcomings. We are human and we need other human in order to give our lives a deeper and richer meaning than just the solitary musings or an ideal world. This film took these ideas and expressed them with a piece of music which was able to break down a wall around a human’s heart and function as a symbol for the greater global instance of the Berlin Wall’s demise.
Human life is a fragile thing. Many things can impact it’s emotional and mental well being, especially war. In the novel, The Cellist of Sarajevo, along with other texts and documentaries, we are able to see how war affects people in different ways.
War is a universal phenomenon, it is a violent tool people use to accomplish their interests. It is not autonomous, rather policy always determines its character. Normally it starts when diplomacy fails to reach a peaceful end. War is not an end rather than a mean to reach the end, however, it does not end, and it only rests in preparation for better conditions. It is a simple and dynamic act with difficult and unstable factors which make it unpredictable and complex. It is a resistant environment where the simplest act is difficult to perform. In this paper, I will argue why war is a universal phenomenon and what are the implications of my argument to strategists.

These are the words of a 15-year-old girl in Uganda. Like her, there are an estimated 300,000 children under the age of eighteen who are serving as child soldiers in about thirty-six conflict zones (Shaikh). Life on the front lines often brings children face to face with the horrors of war. Too many children have personally experienced or witnessed physical violence, including executions, death squad killings, disappearances, torture, arrest, sexual abuse, bombings, forced displacement, destruction of home, and massacres. Over the past ten years, more than two million children have been killed, five million disabled, twelve million left homeless, one million orphaned or separated from their parents, and ten million psychologically traumatized (Unicef, “Children in War”). They have been robbed of their childhood and forced to become part of unwanted conflicts. In African countries, such as Chad, this problem is increasingly becoming a global issue that needs to be solved immediately. However, there are other countries, such as Sierra Leone, where the problem has been effectively resolved. Although the use of child soldiers will never completely diminish, it has been proven in Sierra Leone that Unicef's disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration program will lessen the amount of child soldiers in Chad and prevent their use in the future.
