Bruce and I were becoming better friends as each day passed, and I know this experience is what made our friendship what it is today. After this trip, we continue to be duck hunting buddies. Hunt after hunt, he would call the ducks into our decoys.
After an hour and forty five minute drive I was home. I still had over two hours of prime hunting left. I saw several deer that afternoon but they were all too far away for a shot. Just before dark I had a doe come in to about 125 yards away. Knowing that there was little chance that I could hit the deer I took a shot. Sure enough It was a clean miss. Disappointed I hopped back in my car and headed back to East Lansing. The next day I got up at five in the morning and headed to Muskegon. The next Tuesday my roommate and I decided to try are luck again. My roommate and I went to high school together and we had always been hunting partners. I had a class at one o'clock that day so we could only hunt till eleven that morning. We were in the field a half hour before light. I was optimistic that I could get a descent shot off that morning.

When I got to the hunting area, I found a bison. BAMM! I shot it and I heard the sound of the bison fall. It made a big thud. I then skinned and cleaned it and cut away the meat. I put the meat in the bag that I brought with me and I filled it with 100 pounds of meat, which was all I could carry. After that, I went back to where the wagon was stationed.
For the past two years my dad and I have gone down to Kentucky in late October. My dad’s side of the family owns some land down there and they are good friends with the people who own the plot of land next to us. He usually lets us hunt on his land, and in turn we let him hunt on ours. My dad and I usually go down a Friday evening after school, and get there later that night. We spend the weekend at my Great Uncle’s house. When we get there we unload the things that we will need for in the morning, and we head straight to bed.

Beep! Beep! Beep! My alarm went off in a crazy rage trying to wake me up for my regular day of hunting. After I turned off the raging alarm I got my hunting clothes on and grab my 30-30 and waited for my step dad to get ready. By the time my stepdad got ready it was about 5:30 we were a little late but we’ll make it to the old place on time.
in a lift. He asked you if you wanted to have some fun that night.
I couldn’t believe how it happened It was so exciting. It all started when me and my dad got all of our hunting stuff around and put in the truck. Then we headed to hunting property and when we get to hunting spot I get out of the truck nice and quietly and me and my dad get our stuff on then I get the gun out of the case and load the gun and then we quietly walk out to your blind when we get into the stand of course my dad sites in the chair and the chair makes a big “ POP” and I thought for sure that if there was any deer even close to us at all we just scared them.
dad. We would wake up very early in the morning, even before the sun was up. As the birds were just beginning their morning songs, I rolled over in bed, still half asleep. As the thoughts of heading out on the lake and catching fish entered my mind, I was quickly wide awake. I got up, and put on my favorite pair of jeans. These jeans have been through a lot, with holes in the knees and a long slit down the back of one leg. Next came my lucky Hinton football shirt that I wore every single time I went hunting or fishing.
The next morning at 8:30 a bell went off letting us know that it was time for breakfast. All 5 of us walked into the Chuck Wagon with our pajamas on and stood in line waiting for our food. When we all sat down, we heard that our schedules for the day was on the board and we were to grab a piece of paper and write it down. Every one of us had a Western class, a Rodeo class, an English class, and an activity (swimming in the lake, crafts, and the newspaper- the Daily Neigh) which you sign up for. Then there were also trail rides at 9:30, 10:30, 3:30 and
In the middle of September, my mother and I would go to the store to buy tons of food for hunting camp. At last, after being at the store for hours, we would be on our way to Black Mesa to meet my dad and my brothers. Hunting camp was the highlight of my year. For five years, we would go to the exact same campsite.
It was in July, and we wanted to go camping. I asked my dad if we could go up to our family's cabin in Elk Springs, which is near Montrose. He agreed, so Chase, Tyler and I, all sixteen years old, packed our stuff and were ready to go camping. With excitement, we jumped into Chase's truck, and took off to the woods.
