Love is a dish best not to be reheated, as it bubbles and turns crusty on the edges, something no self respecting human being should ever try. Unfortunately, Ophelia did not get that memo. When Hamlet and Ophelia’s relationship came to a dramatic end, due to his development of “psychosis”, Ophelia, did not check out. Instead, she chose to stay, but was it out of love, pity, or maybe a mix of both? Evidence points to the latter. Ophelia’s love for Hamlet is most visible through her reaction to Hamlet’s rejection during the letter scene, her pity can be seen during Hamlet’s play stunt, and this mix also lies in the play within a play where she allows Hamlet to lay across her even though his insanity and insults have become extreme. They all play into each other which only strengthens their hold on Ophelia, causing her to hang on stronger to Hamlet, not wanting to let go. Welcome to …show more content…

She asks for him to be fixed, to be put back to normal like she once knew him, like the man she loved, not this person in front of her who is insulting her and purposely trying to break her heart. Why would a person do this is they didn’t care about the individual in front of them? Why not just walk away from the situation if they mean nothing to you? Obviously Hamlet means something to Ophelia, otherwise, she wouldn’t be trying. In the mannequin challenge made to represent this scene Ophelia is pictured on her knees as Hamlet throws and shoves the papers back at her. This pose suggests begging, or pleading, like she was trying to get through to Hamlet when it seemed no one else could. Once again, why would she do this if she didn’t care?
