Halloween: Fact or Fiction This story starts on September the 18 2000 on a rather cool evening in Southend, I was walking down this road, and it was long and dark, (it reminded of Nelson Street on a freezing cold morning). I don't know how I came to be walking down this road but I knew I had to do it; it was if my life depended on it, it felt as if a strange force was controlling my every action. I was drawn to this house, it looked like any other house really but I had a feeling, there was something different about it. I went in to the front lounge and sat on the sofa, all of a sudden I was floating in this black void, I was in complete darkness but I could still see my arms and legs, I could here a voice calling, a cold eerie voice but I didn't understand it. The next thing I knew it was 2 hours later and I was still in this house, I got up and noticed that the date on the desk calendar was 31st October 1920, the desk was thick with dust. I had also regained my own movements. I heard a bump behind me, I spun round and saw a book on the floor, it flipped open to a ...
Every year we celebrate a holiday at the end of October involving costumes, candy, and pranks. Can you guess which holiday I am talking about? Of course you can! Halloween is one of the biggest holidays of the year ,second only to (in my opinion) Christmas. We follow many strange traditions on Halloween, but why? Why do we dress up? Why do we get candy? And what is the meaning of the phrase “ Trick or Treat”?
You are alone at night, and all you have is a flashlight that doesn't work and a sleeping bag. Then you see a church and decide to go behind it to stay away from a person’s eyes. When you get there you put everything down and put new batteries in your flashlight. When you start doing this, you hear voices around you and start wondering if you are not alone. Looking everywhere you find nothing, then you come back where you were and your stuff has been moved. Then you start wondering around and you come upon a mental cover covered with grass. You open it up and you find stairs and your curiosity get the best of you. You head down the stairs and then you feel like something is pulling you down. You get down there and it feels like you have been down there for weeks and when you come back up, you do not remember anything that just happened. This experience has been felt by many people that
With the end of October and the beginning of November, two historically celebrated holidays come to pass. Each holiday has been celebrated for centuries, and each one continues to have a large impact on society. Interestingly, they developed in two separate civilizations from different hemispheres and occur around the same time. The two distinct holidays of Halloween and Day of the Dead both share similar origins and a focus on spiritual aspects and yet have still remained unique celebrations that continue to largely impact culture.
...was also believable because the house is so old and things that were happening are believable to occur. No one is going to hear a horse out of nowhere and no is going to smell horses and manure all of a sudden.
Within the picture before me, I see myself. I was dressed in all black; black dress shoes, black pants, a black button-down shirt with a sleek black tie, a black suit jacket, black gloves, a black ski mask, and a black fedora to top it all off. I am not entirely sure what I was supposed to be. Was I a mobster, a thief, or even a personification of the night? The date was Halloween and I was sitting on a bench in front of my house, waiting to scare or give out candy to anybody who approached the door. That year, we had not decorated our house as well as previous years; but we still had a few last minute ideas implemented o let people know that they were welcome to approach. There was a rotating red beacon flashing, jack-o-lantern cutouts over the porch light, and creepy music playing loudly. Despite the decorations, not one person came to our house and hardly anyone had decorated for the holiday along my street. I remember feeling disappointment when I realized that nobody was going to¬¬¬¬ come and anger as people walked by our house without a second glance.
Halloween is theoretically the most dangerous holiday celebrated in America. The practice of trick-or-treat allows criminals the opportunity to hurt children by tampering with their Halloween sweets. For decades, many Americans have understood that this traditional practice of door to door candy collection was absolutely unsafe, and still many today aim to abolish it completely. Nevertheless, they have failed to recognize that theoretical dangers do not always apply to real life scenarios. For example, Black Friday shopping poses as more of a danger than Halloween due to the excessive traffic, colder weather conditions, and larger crowds of people; yet, people still participate in the event. As for Halloween, the children can participate in an activity to collect free candy under lesser hardships, such as being involved

Then all last I heard were gunshots until everything went black.
One day when we were walking around on Halloween night we were walking around and we walked by the creepy old house. Then when we saw it, we were curious to see what it looked like inside. Floyd and I went up to the house and then all of the sudden the lights flicked on and the door opened. The group walked in and the floor was really old so we had to be careful. We kept hearing sounds and then there was footsteps coming towards us, the doors creaking open, the floor creaking, and voices that were close.

“Tis now the very witching time of night, when churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out contagion to this world.” This quote by William Shakespeare accurately sums up many cultures’ feelings towards modern-day Halloween. But where did Halloween originate? While there are several different ideas, the one that seems to be the most popular is that Halloween originated from an ancient Celtic rite called Samhain (pronounced sah-win). Halloween has strong roots in Paganism, which is the cause of negative connotations with Christian religion. Many modern Halloween traditions and symbols started
Modern Halloween celebrations also extend past wearing costumes. Fun activities such as pumpkin-carving, bobbing for apples, and Pinteresting adorable Halloween crafts or food are also trendy. Jack-o-lanterns, originally created to avert evil spirits, are now used more for entertainment and decoration. Speaking of decorations, some individuals pride themselves on decorating their lawns with inflatable monsters, graveyards, or other Halloween paraphernalia. Another popular tradition is attending haunted houses and going to corn fields or pumpkin patches, especially “haunted” ones. Despite the fact that modern Halloween is more focused on eating candy, dressing up, and hanging out with friends, these are still underlying currents of superstition.
