1.1 BACKGROUND OF STUDY
Study loan is crucial for all students that they earn in order to spend it on things they want. Without study loan, it will be a burden for students to pay their tuition. The allowance that given, it help students to study with minimum financial worries.
For MARA student, they will apply MARA loan as their allowance. Diploma and degree student will get different amount of allowance.
Based on the above, mostly KPTM student will apply MARA as their allowance. For KPTM Kuala Lumpur student, diploma student will get RM630 per month and degree student will get RM700 per month. This allowance will help their financial problems and their parents’ burden will decrease.
1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
1.1.1 Manage Money
The student cannot manage their MARA allowance properly. It is because they did not know which is need and want. They also need to pay their house rent for those who stay outside the hostel, and hostel rent. The also will spend it on unusable things like adult’s magazines, brands clothes, accessory, domestic, drinks, and smoking.
1.1.2 Entertainment
Most of the students spend their time with entertainment such as watch movie, dance, karaoke, sport, and hangout. They will use the allowance for the unnecessary things. As a student, they should save their money for important things like pay bill, eat and so on.
1.3 SCOPE OF STUDY
KPTM is the biggest Bumiputera private educational institution with more 12 5000full time students. KPTM had over 7 campuses, which is Kuala Lumpur as the main campus. Cooperation between the informers should be smoothly, sometimes the informer will not give the accurate for information. This is because the communication between them is not successful. Two sampling methods include mail surveys and convenience sampling, a variation of a nonprobability sample. Mail surveys, inexpensive way to contact individuals over a large geographical area, provide anonymity to the respondent, and eliminate interview bias. Convenience sampling, a nonprobability sample, the only criteria is the convenience of the unit to the researcher, fast and uncomplicated, but the sampling error not determined.
- Unfortunatly, all research papers have a limitation to their studies. Some of the limits I may come across is, lack of information, lack of respectable and trusted articles or books. These two will be my biggest concern when writing this paper. The way I plan to try and overcome this obstacle is by gathering all the information I have before hand, and understand the limitations I may occur before I begin writing my paper. This way, I will know my limits while writing my paper and not overstep my boundaries.

Through my research I hope to explore the consequences of education debt on college graduates’ lives, including career choices, consumption pattern and lifestyle choices. Meanwhile, I want to discuss some feasible alternatives to minimize student loan debt. My intended audience will be the American college students and their families.
