There has been very low congressional approval in our country in recent years and it is a common belief that members of congress do not do their jobs and only care about getting re-elected. However after deeply researching Representative Gwen Moore of the fourth district of Wisconsin we learn that members of congress have many duties and responsibilities other than campaigning and raising money to get re-elected. Representatives must also serve on committees and subcommittees, provide services to their constituents, connect with their constituents in the media and write legislation. Gwen Moore’s past has shaped her passion for public service and political agenda which fits well with the needs and demographics of her district. She has a Facebook and Twitter account which she posts on regularly voicing her opinion on current events and getting her political message across. In addition to this Gwen Moore also has a snapchat account and has press releases on her website. It is clear that Moore is trying to engage her millennial constituents as the millennial generation gets all of their information and new online and does not read newspapers, watch the news, or listen to public radio nearly as much as older generations do. Moore still does connect with her older constituents by appearing on the forms of media listed above such as Wisconsin State Journal, Wisconsin Public Radio, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and the The Washington Post. It is important for Moore to post on social media as millennials are far more liberal and democratic than their older counterparts but they also vote the least.
