In order to purchase a gun legally, one must obtain a firearm safety certificate by passing a written test. There is a 10-day waiting period as well as many limitations on who may own a firearm. Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton are two democratic candidates who recently had a presidential debate in Flint Michigan for the 2016 election. The purpose of this essay is to compare both candidates’ standpoint on the subject of gun control and determine which candidate has the best policy. Both candidates had interesting policy on the subject and who was to blame for this tragic incident; However Bernie Sanders’s stance seemed more logical and reasonable. Hillary Clinton, on the other hand continuously utilized a propaganda device known as scapegoat. Scapegoat technique blames a problem... ... middle of paper ... ...hooting victim’s families want justice served, in order to serve justice there must be someone to blame. Hillary Clinton blames gun companies are responsible for these shooting since they are the ones selling and manufacturing the guns. Which is completely unfair for the reason that they are a business that makes money, they follow protocol and lease weapons to whom is completes all the necessary rules and regulation set by the state. Why should gun companies be punished for doing their job? On the other hand Bernie Sanders states that there is no way to prevent tragic events like Sandy Hook, or school shootings, and the processes to figure who to blame is not a simple solution. There’s a lot to consider when dealing with life changing cases such as gun shootings. To conclude Bernie Sanders response was much clearer and reasonable than Clinton’s scapegoat technique.
