Gun Control: For or Against?

The debate over gun control in the U.S today is not merely as welcomed today as it was in the early 1700’s because of controversy, misunderstanding of the law, and the danger guns cause. In 1791 James Madison had written the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights makes up the first 10 amendments in the Constitution. Madison had to create this Bill of Rights in order to win over the state of New York in order to rewrite the Constitution himself. The right to keep and bear arms is the second amendment in our Constitution. This law itself has always been a major priority and issue since it was created, and it is still a large issue today. Gun control has always been a large issue when it came to the government. We have an ongoing battle discussing whether this “right to bare arms” law should even be in affect anymore. People in the government, and even civilians all have a different reaction when it comes to the concept about gun control. Citizens have made claims that it is not guns that kill people; it is people that kill people, so why should we not be able to have guns to protect us? When we look at the National Rifle Associations statistics on gun control we can see that California in 2011 had about 3.25 murders for every 100,000, that was about 68% of all the murders were by gun. It also states that California had the strongest gun control laws also. So just because states have laws, very strict laws against gun control doesn’t necessarily mean that people will abide by them because they have their own perspectives on guns themselves. Civilians feel as though they should have the right to own a gun in case of an emergency where they might feel as though they need protection, but because of the gun control laws it is to long of ... ... middle of paper ... were to happen. Gun control will always be the booming topic in the government because it always covers so many different aspects of different laws. We need the weapons to continue being made because of the possibility of war at any moment so having firearms could be a great use incase we need any type of assistance. War is a main cause of why people think that guns should be banned altogether, with all the nuclear weapons we now have for war makes countries so scared of others. Firearms are dangerous, difficult to wrap our minds around, and the law is completely misunderstood. We need guns more for protection than anything else and having a gun permit should make you be mature enough to handle your responsibilities and make everything right. The issue of gun control will never be compromised because it is always going to be the most controversial argument.
