Looking back to laws, making more laws will not work because individuals will break the rules. Many will not stop until they own a gun, legally or illegally. Even though, some individuals do not favor the right to own a gun, owning a gun will determine the live or death of an individual by making sure the individual is safe. Having the right to own guns might help save more people’s lives because a gun will be a really good source of protection. In terms of the gun debate in America, individuals should prioritize personal liberty because having more guns people might feel more safe and protected.
This is why people say guns should be enforced heavily and avoided especially, if possible. Some also say that guns are used mostly for harming or hurting other people, but most Americans look at their guns as safety tools for their families. Stripping that away would leave a family susceptible to a burglary. Some say that if expensive guns are made, the violence will stop and crime rate will drop. However, expensive guns will do little to aid in the safety of Americans.
Firearms are dangerous weapons used to intentionally and unintentionally kill people, which lead to one of Americas most heated debates: gun control. With increasing crime and violence, many people look to gun control laws as a way to slow these trends down. On the other hand, others believe that owning a gun is a constitutional right that should never be taken away. James Q. Wilsons essay Just Take Away Their Guns is an attempt to offer a solution to both sides of this argument. He claims that illegal possession of firearms is the problem and that frisking suspicious characters would be a good solution to the debate of gun control.
The fight to ban gun control is going to be a difficult one. Gun control laws just take guns away from law-abiding citizens. There are many reasons why people want to own a gun. Don’t keep letting the government keep making it harder for us to won a gun, everyone is a lot safer when they own a gun and follow the laws. The second amendment clearly states “the right to bear arms”, don’t let the government try to change that.
A large portion of the pro-gun circuit is dead set that putting regulations on firearms will just make it harder for the ‘simple man’ to defend themselves. This is partially true depending on exactly how the legal parameters are made. Pro-gun organizations claim that if firearms are banned that the criminals will still procure their firearms from illegal arms vendors because they believe that is where a majority of the criminal populace get their ordinance. According to Gary Kleck “Some criminals acquire guns legally from licensed dealers through legal purchases (because the criminals are not convicted felons, and do not show up as hits in background checks), while others may use straw purchasers to illegally buy guns from licensed retailers who have no way of recognizing the Gun Control being Overly Complicated 4 putative buyers as straws” (Kleck, 2009, sec. 1241) This analysis disproves the former, granted however if a criminal is intent on procuring a weapon they will find a way hence the fact that they are a criminal so there is a degree of merit to the pro-gun
A majority of crimes committed with guns are committed with illegally bought firearms. If you were to ban guns completely the only people that would not have guns are the laws abiding citizens who want to protect themselves. A large number of gun control lobbyists say that they want to protect the sport of hunting, which is wonderful; but what about our fundamental right and ability to be able to protect ourselves against others who intend on doing harm. I think that I am safe to say that most people, if ever put in a position where they needed to protect themselves, would, at least, want to be able to match firepower with the aggressor. The Second Amendment: A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state; the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Banning Handguns is not right Handguns can be easily concealed, so they are usually the weapon of choice for for people to protect themselves. But, they are also the weapon of choice for criminals. Since handguns are easy for criminals to steal, handguns are almost always available on the black market; this makes handguns a solid good choice for criminals. The majority of crimes involving firearms are stuck on the fact of using a handgun; this is a serious problem in America today. Although most would agree that something must be done, no one seems to have the answer at this point.
Out of all those crimes, homicides accounted for 11,101 of them (Planty 2013: 1). The issue of controlling firearms could be considered a form of human rights infringement. Some firearms advocates consider that owning firearms is an issue of having the right to defend themselves. Putting stricter gun control laws in place only affect law abiding citizens. Criminals inherently do not follow the laws so it makes sense that gun control laws will not affect them.
Many people think that banning guns entirely would solve all the gun related crimes in America. It will not. Many of the guns used for illegal activities are not obtained through the lawful way. The gun manufactures do not keep their merchandise under any true security. Many people also claim that guns have saved them from assaults because the gun makes for a great deterrent.
I believe that gun control works in theory, but not in real life. Sure, there are many violent crimes where guns are used, but most of these guns are obtained illegally, because the gun control laws enforced are not enough. With the growing gun-related crime rate in the United States today, many bills have been proposed to control guns. The most popular of these bans is The Brady Bill. The bill focuses on semi-automatic handguns.
