The Alagood Residence: A Creative Collaboration
This waterfront home in St. Pete had a dark, gloomy kitchen – exactly the opposite of what anyone would want in a beach house. The homeowners came to us with a design in hand. They’d already decided which walls to remove to create a light and airy kitchen better suited to their oceanfront location, and to accommodate their budget, they opted to do some of the work themselves. Our kitchen designers were more than happy to help them put the finishing touches in place.
As the photographs illustrate, the results were nothing less than spectacular!

The homeowner had a vision in mind, and overall, a neutral color palette was more important to this client than any particular door style. Our kitchen consultant was able to pass a KraftMaid promotion on to our customer, allowing her to choose a discounted door st...
Lowe’s is leading the way by example. Lowe’s believes that creating long-term partnerships is a win-win situation for both sides of the deal. Lowe’s is the second largest home appliance retailer in the country, by working hand in hand for twenty-six years with Whirlpool, the largest marketer and manufacturer of home appliances. Whirlpool and Lowe’s have worked together to become unmatched in bringing their customers a high quality product and a very low competitive price. Through a tremendous logistical effort Whirlpool and Lowe’s have created a one of a kind Innovation Tour. A semi-trailer transforms itself into a functioning kitchen to show customers cutting edge appliances that will be available at Lowe’s in the future from Whirlpool and Kitchen Aid. As Lowe’s motto states, Lowe’s truly is “Improving Home Improvement”. (http://www.businesswire.com/)

In designing the buildings, the storefront is a key focus, with its large public doors, heavy use of glass, display windows, and entrance signage. Much like today, a storefront often serves as its own advertisement to pedestrians or drivers passing by and as such becomes a heavy focus for a store’s design. As in the case of the Kress stores they established their brand in a shiny gold handwritten font over a green back...
Also, the inside of the house felt cooler inside than outside once walking a few steps inside. When walking to the left along the hallway is a living room with a window to look out at the front yard, a multi-purpose pool table set and a couple of couches. I kept walking down the hallway until I reached the dining room; the long wooden table was empty except for the same oak chairs surrounding the table as if they were worshipping the table. The seven candle holder against the right side of the wall isn 't lit because the dining room had enough light from the sun shining through the sliding glass door that is past the main living room. From here I could hear my turtle tank and my fish tank filters splashing the water like kids in a
Antoni Gaudi designed a building called Casa Mila in the years of 1905-1910 in Spain. This building in particular showed a lot of influence from steel as well as the ocean. The ocean became a large influence in this from the development of the scuba suit and the exploration of sea creatures. From the outside of the building you can see that it looks almost cave like with all of the different alcoves and openings. There is a lot of glass in this building and so when you are in the inside there are many different colors being cast from the sun hitting the different pieces of glass. The appearance of being underwater is very real in this building. There are many round and curvy lines and edges within this building and it is said that the jellyfish was a big inspiration within the space.
When I walked into the door, I was immediately blown away. I entered a beautiful yet sleek dining room and kitchen. The thing that I noticed first and appreciated was that the space was not gigantic. It is intimate and I think that is important for cooking and dining experiences. When there are too many people, it waters down the experience for me. Lucky me, since I went before lunch, it was just me, Chef Tess and
In Newfoundland this is most apparent with the historical Jelly Bean houses that decorate the city. These houses were originally built as temporary housing after a massive fire swept across St. Johns in the late eighteen hundreds. They were not originally painted in such bright colors but the fishermen at the time decided to make the temporary housing more bright and lively and painted the houses the same colors that they had on their boats. This sudden change in the landscape created a culturally boom in a sense as people started to consume the Jelly Bean houses, they began to grow into more areas of Newfoundland culture.
