Growing up is the most important time in our lives; we are developing minds treated appropriately in an academic environment starting at around age four. At the same time, our little attention spans are hungry for activities and excitement. With each step of development in the human mind and body, there is always something occasionally to cause quite an excitement, whether it be a goal achieved or some new additions in my life. Our periods of development often prove fruitful in major events that come to shape who we are and what we do. Starting elementary, I always looked up to my father. School came easy, and I did the work, but I never truly tried to push myself. However, I put just a tad bit more work in and received my first report card with all A’s in 3rd grade. Not only was my teacher proud, but so was the rest of my family! This was the first time where I jumped from the AB honor roll to the all A honor roll, my name was on a different award, and my name was in the smaller section in the local newspaper. We all want to feel a sense of accomplishment, so naturally I tried to keep with it. In the same year, I had to relish the last moments of being an only child. This year my family received the new addition to our family, my baby sister. Being an only child was sort of lonely, and I always longed for a little sister. Who knew it would be so much work? There were some legal issues in my house in 6th grade, so that year my grandparents took temporary custody of me. After that was resolved in 7th grade, my grades started to pick back up again. My GPA that had been lying dormant for the last two and a half years was starting to wake up again, and that was exciting for me. But during 7th grade, I experienced my first taste of identity struggles. Who was I and what was my purpose? Through all of this, I tried to be strong and not let it affect my education. In turn, I would say that it gave me a different perspective of the world. This gradually resolved in 8th grade and that year, I also woke my grades up with a horn.
