Manager: “Billy can you stock aisle three please?”
Billy: “Yes I will but let me go to the bathroom first.”
(Billy goes to find Marie)
Billy: “Hey Marie, the manager said to go stock aisle three. I am done with all of my aisles so I get to sit back in the back until it is time for me to clock out.”
Marie: “Uhm, okay, but why did the manager not come tell me?”
Billy: “She was too busy so she told me to tell you.”
Marie: “Okay, I will go work on it.”
In the U.S today, the workplace has made a drastic change. Billy does not want to do his job that the manager assigned him, so Billy decides to pend it off on Marie. “For the first time since the recession ended, businesses are increasingly unable to squeeze more and more work out of existing workers. “ Anthony Mirhaydari, MSN Money. Productivity is no longer what it use to be fifty years ago. Employees leave an everlasting impression on customers. When walking into a grocery store, customers will experience three different types of employees.
Hard workers
First, a hard worker is defined as “one who is industrious and diligent in carrying out tasks or duties.” (Dictionary.com) When thinking about hard workers, these employees are the strivers, the ones who go above and beyond tasks. An employee was working a night shift and was expected to complete a work list which consisted of filling sugar, eggs, milk, bread, Red Gold Tomato Juice, IGA 2-Liters,12 pack of cokes, and to clean the entire store (floors, backroom,shelves, bathrooms). The boy finished the list in an hour and then later did the list again. This displays a determined worker. Another example of a hardworker is when a cashier checking out groceries. An employee was two hours late to work and when the manager confronts the employee; he says traffic in Bowling Green was stand-still for an hour. Employees that are lazy do not feel the need to call ahead of time because of the poor work ethic the employee carries. Lazy employees are the worse type of workers.
When exiting the store, each type of employee is stuck into the mind of the customer. Customers are more likely to remember the lazy workers rather than the hard workers. Anything from laziness to the best workers in the business. The productivity of workers differ from what type of employee the worker is classified as. Each one of these types of workers make up a business whether it is the worst or the best.
