We interviewed Andra Zommers from Greenpeace. The questions we asked were as follows:
1) What is Greenpeace?
2) How is Greenpeace run/structured?
3) Why did you get involved in the environment? (Your motivation)
4) Why Greenpeace?
5) In your opinion, where is the greatest concern?
6) Is there any Spiritual emphasis Greenpeace has or that you personally have?
7) What is Greenpeace’s vision for the future?
8) What gives you hope?
Taken from www.greenpeace.ca: “Greenpeace is an independently funded organization that works to protect the environment. We challenge government and industry to halt harmful practices by negotiating solutions, conducting scientific research, introducing clean alternatives, carrying out peaceful acts of civil disobedience and educating and engaging the public. Greenpeace seeks to:
· Protect biodiversity in all its forms;
· Prevent pollution of the earth’s oceans, land, air and fresh water;
· End all nuclear threats;
· Promote peace, global disarmament and non-violence.”
It is a global campaigning organization founded in 1971 and contains offices in 27 countries worldwide. They place a high emphasis on non-violent confrontational methods in the hope to raise education and awareness. This is often the motivation behind protests. They do this through lobbying, campaigns, boycotts, discussions and interviews. Their focus audience is the consumer. They hope to inform the consumer to change economic stance to support only companies concerned with the environment. Theoretically, the change in money flow should affect large companies approaches to the environment.
Greenpeace is independently run in each country. Greenpeace Canada contains 7 board of director members (Peter Bleyer, Varda Burstyn, John Doherty (chair), John Foster, Karen Wristen) that determine priorities and the annual budget. The Executive Director, Peter Tabuns, handles day-to-day management. It is run solely on public donations and does not accept company of government funding in order to stay independent. Most of the money stays local. Their head office is located at 1726 Commercial Drive in Vancouver.
Andra credits her motivation towards the environment largely to the location of her upbringing. The claims that the in-your-face beauty of British Columbia, with its mountains, lakes, rivers, forests and ocean, one cannot help but be drawn and connected by it. This, accompanied by the in-your-face destruction of the environment and abuse evidently seen in British Columbia, one cannot help but also be involved with saving the thing you are so closely connected to. She also expressed much concern with the power corporation seem to have over our lives and her personal desire to educate people and see them change for the better drives her to continue in the field.
A Separate Peace is a coming of age novel in which Gene, the main character, revisits his high school and his traumatic teen years. When Gene was a teen-ager his best friend and roommate Phineas (Finny) was the star athlete of the school.
As it is a boot making company, there have a lot of greenhouse gases, and they do really care about their grants to the problem.
There are two types of glomerulonephritis—acute renal failure (ARF) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). The ACF form generally develops suddenly as a result of an infection or illness, such as, group A streptococci bacteria, hepatitis, or in diseases such as lupus or HIV (Mathias, 2013). This type may require dialysis to replace renal function while it lasts, however, kidney function usually returns after the primary illness is treated. Many acute patients will not have any other complications as no permanent damage is done. Whereas CKD is found in a person that has had glomerulonephritis for months to years in some cases and may be asymptomatic until the kidney has become irreversibly damaged. ARF can evolve to become chronic if the glomeruli do not respond to
Throughout the novel, A Separate Peace, the author John Knowles conveys many messages of symbolism. The symbolism can be found in an array of ways, ranging from internal war, to the theme of human aggression, and a variety of religious principles. The main characters, Gene and Phineas, and their story could be paralleled to the biblical story of Adam and Eve. The similarities can be seen in the way in which in both of the stories, everyone is living in perfect harmony and peace until something comes along to disrupt it. Also in how the main characters do something out of jealousy, greed, and selfishness; and in addition, how Finny's fall out of a tree relates to the “Fall of Mankind.”
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to look at the world from another point of view? Try looking at it from an animal's perspective. Surviving on your own, hiding from predators, and many more. Thats what zoologist do. Zoologist study the origin and development of animals species, their habits and behavior towards each other, and the way they act in different environments. They also do research to learn how animal diseases are developed and their traits are passed from generation to generation. They have a program out there called Greenpeace. Greenpeace is basically a volunteer system for people who want to learn more about animals and interact with them. Greenpeace is a very challenging job to achieve. In order to get very high in the career you start off with the basics of Volunteering and working your way up. It doesn’t really need a specific education unless working in the science field or program.
One of the major kidney problems that we face every day is Acute Renal Failure also called the Acute Kidney Injury which basically is that kidneys have suddenly stopped working and as I said earlier, our kidneys excrete waste products and balances fluids in our blood, so imagine not having a perfectly working kidney, it could cause serious problems in our body that could also be fatal.
Green washing: The disinformation disseminated by an organization so as to present an environmentally responsible public image. In order for big companies to stay on top of the market today, they are forced to think of advertising strategies to help their public image and advertise their product. Over the years the system has become very complex and also very questionable. Companies are willing to lie, change their logo, and sometimes even their company name just to keep their name and image clean in front of the public just to make sure that they are making their money. Green washing helps this by advertising to the public that they are environmentally supportive and responsible. Most people that are into buying “green products” do not even realize that the company they are buying from is green washing in some sort of way just so that they can attract attention to the public. Green washing companies may advertise that they are “eco-friendly”, but when it comes down to it, the facts hidden behind the curtains beg to differ. Just like in the green washing video we watched in class, the companies may look great compared to the worst companies, but that does not mean what they are doing is still productive for our environmental movement. One company that has been notorious for their green washing efforts for the past couple of decades is the Oil/energy company: British Petroleum a.k.a. Beyond Petroleum. They are one of the world’s largest leading oil companies who has also becoming a large energy supplying company with presence in petrochemicals, gas, and solar divisions. Over the past twenty years BP has been the cause of several deadly disasters in the oil business in the U.S. and around the world. Despite their green washing effor...
Dependent on the individual or situation, an effective leader must be able to adapt their leadership approach (MindTools, 2013). Hersey and Blanchard made a distinction in the levels of maturity that can be engaged in situational leadership; telling, selling, participating, and delegating (MindTools, 2013). Sue validates this understanding with the shift mentioned previously. A new team member still has considerable amount to learn when starting. In this case, Sue shifts between the telling and selling style to be able to provide beneficial instruction and monitor their work. Having the appropriate amount of support and guidance helps to leads to the shift between participating and delegating, which depends on the task that Sue assigns to the team
Dialysis is used when a person’s kidneys have lost 85-95% of their functioning ability. Over 100,000 people in the US are staying alive due to kidney dialysis. Kidney dialysis is also called renal dialysis. There are two types of kidney dialysis: peritoneal and hemodialysis. Both types of dialysis remove waste, salt and extra water, which builds up in the body. Dialysis not only cleanses impurities out of the blood, it also maintains blood pressure and makes sure to keep healthy levels of sodium, bicarbonate and potassium in the body. (Lewin, 2010)
In this text we will discuss and explore chronic kidney disease by providing a definition, describing the disease, discussing the prevalence of chronic kidney disease in Pakistan and England and incidence of chronic kidney disease in Australia. Further on we will discuss how to prevent this disease and who can help us in order to improve our health condition.

According to the case study, the work of environmental managers often exposes them to many pollution prevention solutions, but they often have trouble getting access to production areas. Production often sees Environmental Managers as "the compliance police". Stakeholders The stakeholders in this case study include the corporation, the community and the countryside.
This article describes the choices for treatment: hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplantation. It gives the pros and cons of each. It also discusses diet and paying for treatment. It gives tips for working with your doctor, nurses, and others who make up your health care team. It provides a list of groups that offer information and services to kidney patients. It also lists magazines, books, and brochures that you can read for more information about treatment.
This is the biggest environmental organization with over three million contributors. Traditionally associated with the progressive movement, the club was one of the first large-scale environmental preservation organizations in the world, and currently engages in lobbying politicians to promote green policies. Recent focuses of the club include promoting sustainable energy, mitigating global warming, and opposing coal. Sierra Club their mission statement is "To explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth; To practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources; To educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives." (www.sierraclub.org) This club has five reliable goals that are associated with this group. They are too, "achieve ambitiously and just climate solutions; explore, enjoy, and protect our nations lands, waters, air, and wildlife; engage and support a broad, diverse, inclusive, and powerful movement; become an ever stronger, high-performance organization" (sierraclub.org, 2017) They are currently wanting to solve the climate crisis, primarily through a successful transition to a resource-efficient, clean energy economy that better serves people and nature. To secure lands protection for public lands and waters, promote healthy ecosystems and communities, and fight for clean air and water. They also have the ambition to get people outdoors. To build a movement that is diverse and inclusive, that reflects and represents today's American public, and prioritizes important connections between environmental health and social justice (sierraclub.org). There are a couple different careers within the Sierra Club. An associate attorney, which helps coordinate all aspects
She helps people communicate with their pets (of any type). Her gift of communication with animals has been with her for her entire life. Boo believes that everybody posses an ability to communicate with animals. After all, humans and animals are not very different, we just have different forms. Learning how to communicate takes skill, practice and the ability to remain neutral. I sat down with Boo to find out how she speaks to animals and what they want us to know about them
